Phoenix is a Steam content manager that has special functions for working with (Gold-) Source modifications and games. Moreover, it has its own scripting engine to prepare games in the way you want and it also can update GCF and NCF files.

With some handy additions it works similar to UCL, CF Toolbox and GCFPrep.

Features:
  • Works with all Source and GoldSource games and modifications.
  • Has a special technology of preparing GCF content (based on Vit_amiN's works and ideas) and (since 1.4 beta 2) you can make your own way how to process the game and what to unpack!
  • Offers you an ability to set video and audio options for (Gold-)Source games without launching
  • There's an option to instantly launch either map or save for a selected mod.
  • Has an ability to unpack and create GCF-files from SID (so called "SID2GCF").
  • Many other useful features thanks to plugins support (Delphi and C++ headers are available).
  • (1.4 beta 2) Scripts-based customization of some processes.
  • Skin support (thanks to SkinCrafter Library). Download it @ Update Centre

Changes (1.5 RC2 -> 1.6 alpha 0):
  • Absolutlely new main window
  • CSD files unpacking
  • Expect more features to come

How to install:
Place Phoenix.exe together
  • With hl.exe|hl2.exe if you have unpacked version of Half-Life (2)
  • With SteamApps folder
  • With .GCF|.NCF files
It can also read Steam path from registry.

As for L4D, it can be added as a source-modification and it should work.

Well, if you don't want to modify settings, you'll need only Options tab in the Upper menu.
1)Choose Process GCF-files
2)Choose Refresh ModZ List.
3)Select something and launch it!
Btw, program works in the Standalone games support mode by default, so you'll need to switch the GCF-processing mode if you have GCFs.
W4rezz, don't be lazy ::P .

Yeah, SASiO, i was thinking about control rearrangement :) . Besides, if anyone wants me to make it process and launch NCF apps, it would be great, 'cause i haven't got enough experience in this sphere.

-Edit-

I tried several ways of controls arranging, but none of them fits better than original :( . Thus you can take the current interface as the best of worst :) , or advice me another one - it's all up to you, SASiO and everybody else, to decide what the future interface will look like. Share your ideas!

You could organize it better by puting all basic and advanced options seperatly, You could also use more forms, maybe some with tabs, and there are buttons Program Options and Mod options while in MainMenu there is menu Options. I think that application gui should be "noob friendly", specially as a launcher which You set some setting click OK and all games are visible and someone with 2clicks can play it. You propably making it with KOL library which i dont use since im also a Delphi coder i stick with VCL stuff. This project look promising so keep up the good work ;).

Well, SASiO, that's the problem, I should have told about it earlier, but had forgotten. You see that's not pure Delphi, it's a fucking crazy mix of Delphi and NSIS. If you know what I mean, I'm coding totally fucked up installer with a big NSIS plugin written in Delphi aboard.
I know that sounds strange, but 2 years of "NSIS coding" seemed to be easier (than coding in Delphi) than now :) .
So, tabs are too hard to make :( . But i'll surely give it a try and follow your suggestion.
And yes, i'm using KOL to make main library and plugin less in size.

I know what You mean i started "coding" in Wise Installer heh Anyway if You want some examlpes in Delphi then goto Developer section if You want, ive uploaded there SBReV source code. Its not very well designed but i always cover with truth thats was my first app in delphi ever made. One thing about KOL, its interesting even i took a look on this library but (heres is my only opinion) VCL seems to be better solution with better support, i dont say KOL is bad but for me to build biger project its may be not enought. I agree with statment that VCL are big but not too big. 500kb+ in size that not that much in novadays. Anyway its Your choice, i wish You thebest with Phoenix ;).
