Mafia 2 Patch test 01



1 Install GTA4 0.081 SORA version, but for Mafia 2 game.
2 Unpack to game folder (where Mafia2.exe located) shaderinput directory with
file psh820FAB09.txt.
3 Run the game and check if shadows are fixed. If not, open psh820FAB09.txt
and change value 0.99 in it to some other, 1.01 for example or any other
(not too low or too high), run the game and check for flickering shadows again.


I don't have testers or videocard for testing (Radeon x1300-x1950 series), so
this is the hell way try to fix bug.

Hi, guys. I bought a licensed DVD, activated it on steam and everything was just fine at first. But then I discovered that I can't chose English language in properties. Only Czech, Polish and Russian. That surely was unexpected for me, because all other games that I've ever bought on DVD and then activated through steam had English and I really don't want to play Mafia in Russian or any other language except English. =\ Is there a way to 'activate' English, maybe change some files or something?
P.S. Cracked version is not an option because as I've heard it has a lot of bugs and I have a licensed game with a couple of DLCs too, don't tell me it was a waste of money. =(

Did you tried? CloneDVD ELITE version? with your serial you could activate the game... and give us help with info files for languages... the original info files... no the manually modified ones...

How can i solve my problem? Is there a way to "fly up","super jump" or stuff like that?

Is it possible to add AA to the game ENB? BTW Ive tried this patch and it doesnt do anything to my game. I installed ENB into the game folder where mafia2.exe is and adjusted the shader file but it made no difference. Also pressing shift + F12 doesne make any difference. My hardware is

Hey Buddy, it's Steam, what did you expect? Living in Germany and wanna play Modern Warfare 2 in english? What Steam does when you even downloaded all the files for the english version is to throw the files for the german version over it. You tell Steam not to update your installation? You can bet your yearly income it does when you logon next time. Because Steam never do what you tell it, Steam always do what it likes (or better the programmers tell it to do). Because Steam is Prick Shit³ (TM).
Sorry to tell ya, but yup, it was a waste of money. The new crack by Unleashed is pretty stable, and the SKiDROW Crackfix worked for many. If you read the 2kGames forums, even some customers legally own that game have the exact same problems of noncustomers illegally own it.
Take it as a costly lesson everyone had to learn once and live on. Next time you know better!

APEX PhysX Made Mafia2 retail version crash on my 5870+9800gt (cAT10.8+Forceware259.32+PhysX_9.10.0513+PhysX-mod-1.04ff)

the game will jump out to desktop when I'm in Chapter 2 with APEX Physx Medium and High, and windows 7 x64 told me "the Mafia 2 application has stopped working", and the debug of windows 7 x64 told me sth wrong with APEX_Particles.dll.:

But when I turn off the APEX PhysX, everything is fine, any solution?

btw, I can run the PhysX benchmark in Mafia2 demo with high APEX PhysX without any problem, and the first beta crack is just fine for high APEX Physx, but without save function.

Hello RessourectoR, thanks for the link and the DLCs, and I have a question please:

I went there and didnt know how to download the NCF files for all the Mafia II NCF's!

when I click any one I go to another page and on the right ban I find something like:

I click it and it opens another page that contains the: Decryption Key and thats all... no download for that NCF!

and if I right click to Save As... I find out that it's a HTML file!

what should I do to get those DLC's?

I'm using SKIDROW's Release of Mafia II with the Crack.Fix (the second Crack release from SKIDROW with the FIX for their first Crack) so I'm not playing Via Steam or cracked Steam, I mean I'm not installing Steam on my System, so do I need to extract the NCF files and put them into the PC folder of the Mafia II like the way with the SKIDROW DLC Bonus?

and what tool to use for extracting he NCF files? is it CF Toolbox?

That site you went on automatically lists lots of Steam content, which I admit might be confusing, but you need to pay attention to the site title: It's "Update Database". There are no full game downloads there, only requests for updates or updates to game files made with CF Toolbox are meant to be put on this site.
Actual full game downloads can be found in the thread that I linked.

There are NCF files and GCF files. Steam uses these to know where the files for the game that you want to launch (in Steam or a Steam emulator) are. Games that use the GCF format have game data inside these GCF files, you can think of it like zip or rar archives, they are file containers with additional information about the game files. NCFs have the same use, the only difference is that the game files of NCF-games are not inside the NCFs, but in the SteamApps\common folder.
CF Toolbox is mainly meant to handle these two types of Steam file containers. These NCFs and GCFs also have version numbers, which change when there is an update for a game on Steam. With CF Toolbox, the work that Steam does automatically for legitimate users, can be done by illegitimate users (i.e. us), but manually. Your Steam requests the new data when there is a game update, and the Steam content servers give it to you. Because this basic principle of Steam only works for people that have bought the game, requesting and handing out the update to the game files has to be done by people, manually, and the site rinru.tk is a means for sharing these updates and requests as files. You request with a CF Toolbox .archive file, someone else who has updates game content puts this file into his CF Toolbox and creates an update file which the first person can apply using CF Toolbox again.

Now why did I tell you that?
First, it's essential to know to understand how "Steam content sharing" works in this community. The thread I linked is in a forum section with that same name, and it is there where you can find the full game. In case of newer games and almost all games not developed by Valve themselves, you will find the game files ("SteamApps\common\Mafia II", remember?) and the matching NCF files.

Now if you don't care about cracking Steam, if you don't care about emulating Steam, if you don't care about properly updating your game content when there are patches made available via Steam, you only need the "SteamApps\common\Mafia II" stuff from that thread I linked and a decent working crack. In this case, there is a Mafia II DLC thread on the first page of the Main Forum section where you can get just the game files for the DLCs (there are also some instructios to make them work.. kinda)
But if you care about one of these things above, you will want to have the NCF files - which, for the DLCs, we don't have at our official thread yet, because nobody has supplied these until now (not that I know of anyway).

So, you can't extract NCF files, because as opposed to GCF files, they contain no actual game data.

I wish from you or the other Admins (if Possible) to someday maybe post a Thread explaning in it how to Use this Update Beta Site with images or something similar to give an example at least for maybe downloading because this site actually is a very very good idea.
