I'm at a loss as to how you're supposed to use the updates. I've looked around the FAQ and such, but no luck. I've unpacked the files from the .iso using Phoenix into ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\Mafia II, so where do I now put the update files from your links, jbeckman? Thanks in advance. |

Am I right in thinking that I just put the .ncf files into steamapps aand that will be the updates etc installed? |

The first updated archive (Which was re-uploaded but that was a few hours ago.) includes the modified exe and updated packages, this should just be placed in the \Mafia II\ folder or where you call it and overwrite any existing files, second update is mostly just the exe and the matching NCF's though these aren't needed to play the game if you use a modified exe file. You then use any cracked exe to start the game and can use whatever was updated and fixed, I'd recommend Skidrow's since it's based on retail code compared to the others and from my testing it works just fine. (EXE, .dll, steam_appid.txt - all go to where Mafia2.exe is located and said file is replaced.) The unpacked disc image file with these updated files should be completely identical to the original version and I haven't done anything special aside from backing up mafia2.exe and testing Skidrows files in place of it. (Is the Steam_AppID.txt file correct? should just contain 50130 as that's the ID for Mafia2.) Haven't encountered any so called protection triggers either so far but I've only tested a few quick things and mostly the DLC content from the made-man pack and so far everything is working. (It does need the PhysX redist to run but that shouldn't differ from the previous released versions or even the original updated demo version.) EDIT: Saw the new posts, seems some people do get that protection trigger, might be scripted to misison 1 then and the taxi sequence, would need a repack or such to fix unfortunately. (The v3 crack with the .dll for DLC might work in the meantime but that's mostly just a guess.) EDIT: NCF's are normally used by any Steam emulator or loader program as means to emulate Steam authentication and run the game unmodified but can also verify the content of the files, they're not used by the game as such but are included to be complete as they've been requested a few times, I'll put them in a separate folder from now on to be more specific about this.  (Or Steam itself of course via the \Steamapps\ folder.) |

I gues we just have to wait for SKIDROW to fix the health bug of the crack. After that it be fine... Atleast SKIDROW is the first that even get the game started on my pc... |

When i try to unpack sids with phoenix i got this error "Install scripts parser error" Unsuported "Registry entry type dword anyone? |

If i use the updates with SKIDROW it crash at the splashscreen @brotherscro, just ignore the message, i think everyone got that message...just kill the process... |

i'll just start with a new unpacked Mafia 2 again since i had like 4 backups of everything and there were files all over the place, lol. i hope Jimmy's Vendetta get's released soon (DLC with new missions etc)
