Is it possible to get, say the Portal content, maps, etc. into my legit Gmod and CS:S without getting banned? Thanks.

What is the chance of being banned if I use SmartSteam? What are the consequences of being banned from Steam? Will the Portal content integrate with Gmod? Will I be able to play Portal?

Using any Steam crack comes with risk. If you get caught (this is done on Valve's end) then your account will be disabled (banned). Do NOT confuse this with a VAC ban.

Portal will work just fine. However, Steam community/friends will NOT show you in game.

I moderated this forum.

I installed SmartSteam. When I open it up (after closing the other Steam that was open from the tray) it won't load any of my games. In normal Steam, it will.And how do I make it so that Windows starts up with SmartSteam and not Steam?

I am almost done downloading Portal, i'm assuming I have to download the two GCFs from the Source games thread here, put them in the steamapps folder, than play the game from SmartSteam, right?

PS: By not loading my games, I mean that in SmartSteam, it will say "Preparing to launch Garry's Mod..." for Gmod, but the box will close and nothing will happen. In normal Steam, this doesn't happen.

I tried to launch Portal from SmartSteam now that it is done downloading. I downloaded the english and the content gcf for portal and I put them in the steamapps folder like I said above. When I tried to launch it from SmartSteam, it updated and when I try to run it it gives an error from hl2.exe that it is missing .DLL.

Now, I decided to delete SmartSteam and use iSteam. I followed the tutorial for legit + cracked in the tutorials section for iSteam and it works great accept that I have to run gmod from my cracked account to get the Portal content. Is their any way I can get the Portal content in my legit?

You can not directly mount the Portal content in GMod with out a Steam crack, but there was something about extracting the whole game and using it as an addon. I don't rememeber the details since I don't mess with GMod much.

Okay, thanks. Was it a tutorial because it would be great if someone could find it.

I had written it somewhere, but there are so many thread about GMod that I'm not able to find it.

I'll explain you how.
Make a new folder in your addons folder, i will choose the name test.
Extract the games materials,sounds etc to test.
Make a new .txt file in test named "info" (without the " ").
inside info.txt you should add this:

"AddonInfo"
{
"name" "test"
"version" "1"
"up_date" "1"
"author_name" "test"
"author_email" "test@hotmail.lol"
"author_url" "www.test.com"
"info" "Test"
}


you can replace test,test@hotmail.lol and http://www.test.com with anything you want.
Now your folder should look something like this:

Now launch gmod.
Tada the files are mounted!(note that it will say that it isn't mounted in console beceause you don't own the game but it will work)
