No, he meant someone posted the DLC + ".LIC" file along with patch 1.5 and the crack for it on BCG. This should enable to play the DLC, can someone test and report? Thanks ::D

Spoiler
DLC files and ".LIC" file are extracted in:

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\%TitleID%\%ContentPackageType%\%ContentID%

Open "content.xbx" with notepad to obtain "TitleID", "ContentPackageType" and "ContentID".

Tried messing with it. Didn't work. I've done some GFWL profile fuckery in the past and I know that getting the folder names right is key. I have no idea if I've got the right names or not and googling didn't pop up anything obvious. Who knows if it'd work if I got those right or if I fucked them up or whatever. More trouble than it's worth. I did get my Bioshock 2 updated to 1.5 so I came out ahead regardless.

Hi everybody, greetings from Spain and sorry for my poor english

I've tried that files posted by AirMax95s, but it seems that it doesn't work...

¿anybody had success and made Minerva's den work?

I just cant' wait to play this DLC, but of course, I don't want to go through GFWL and its poor service... it's no problem to pay 5 euros for Minerva's den DLC, but not in GFWL marketplace...

Do we have to use command to install these files? If not, what do we do to make it work?

use WinRAR to extract the .cab files, but nothing will make the DLC work, the only hope is if JorjVirus69 can finish his XLive emu. till then the only way to play the DLC is to buy it

Well, I messed with the dlc files and I managed to start it.

It's is impossible to use it as a dlc but there is a way to trick the game anyway.

-first I recommend to make a backup of the whole bioshock 2/SP folder.
-extract the dlc's cab somewhere
-move content/SP/Content/BinkMovies/*.* into .../BioShock 2/Content/BinkMovies/
-move content/SP/Content/FlashMovies/*.* into .../BioShock 2/Content/FlashMovies/
-move content/SP/Content/Sounds_Windows/*.* into .../BioShock 2/Content/Sounds_Windows/
-move content/SP/Content/Maps/*.* into .../BioShock 2/Content/Maps/
-in the Maps folder- rename Minerva_A.bsm to Prelude-2.bsm (so you overwrite the original one).
-start bioshock 2 and start a new game.

That's it. DLC'll load and you can play. Sounds seems to be fine and you can save/load.

The problem is the textures. You probably noticed the BulkContent dir. That's the textures. They seem to be map specific. I have found no way to make them work. So the original game's textures will be used. You'll get low quality textures at many places- this means not unplayable game but surely it take away some of the fun...

I only played a few minutes so don't know if everything is going to work properly or not and of course when (if) you reach second map then it probably not going to load until you rename the Minerva_B.bsm to the correct name (the second map of the original game). and the same with the 3. (last) map.

I use v1.05 patch with the mini-image in daemon tools.

Edit:
I played more. It seems to be ok. The drilldash pickup crashes the game but so far no need to pick it up. There is a new weapon. New type of flying bots.

Sadly it appears the lights are wrong too. The whole thing seems unnaturally dark.
I still didn't reach 2nd level...

@Ahab
nice work, and it looks like it might be possible to make a standalone version of just the DLC with some more modding..

Post subject:  Re: Bioshock 2 DLC Minerva's Den for PC?

Well, end of the line.
Gravity well plasmid is needed to continue and the game crashes on pickup.

It doesn't seem like JorjVirus69 is going to update his emu. and I'm sure as hell I won't buy any dlc, ever...

Edit:
I used "ghost" mode and went through the locked door where the new plasmid was needed. That was the end of the level.
The next level loaded (Minerva_B.bsm) without renaming it. So I guess the map itself tells the game which map to load next.
Even better the content of the BulkContent (I moved dlc content to the proper dir) is started to work on the second map and all the models, textures and lights appeared at their full glory.

However a new problem presented itself. Now that the savegames are linked to the proper map name, when I try to load them the game tells it belong to a dlc which I don't have. That's just fucking terrific! Best to turn on the vitality chambers and hope game won't crash at all and the missing plasmid won't be needed anymore.

I also noticed that Prelude-2.bsm and Minerva_A.bsm are both 9 characters long. Maybe the game could be hexed to think the actual first map is Minerva_A.bsm instead of Prelude-2.bsm?!
If that could be done somehow that would mean the textures and lights could work properly at the 1. map too. +there is a chance the game wouldn't crash on the new plasmid pickup.

This way saves cannot be used at all (I mean not even at the 1. map) but not a big issue.

Any of you up to the task?

Edit:
This is an Unreal engine game. There should be console command to load any map I want. It could be bind to a key in the user.ini

Edit:
Got it!
This is the console command:
Open Minerva_A.bsm
So the map can be started without renaming it.
Later I'll test if everything is fine (besides saves) and if it's ok (if I can pick up plasmids without crashing) then I'll upload all files needed to play!

Edit:
I even discovered how to load savegames from the dlc.
Need to hex edit the save files and rename them.
I managed to change a dlc quicksave into an orig. campaign autosave and it loaded fine.

but know I really don't have time to test the game...

Minerva's Den DLC

http://BillionUploads.com/apd67lqih7o2

Extract with winrar.
You can use offline GfWLive account.
Patch, mini image included.

Readme:
-Install BioShock 2 and update it to v1.5
-Copy the content of the 'Minerva's Den DLC' to the install dir.
There are 2 small files you have to overwrite. 1 Movie and 1 audio file. I don't think this will cause problem in the original game but I included them in the backup dir just in case.
-Open 'User.ini' with text editor. Win7 Path: 'c:/Users/"USER NAME"/AppData/Roaming/Bioshock2'
-In the [Default] category find a blank key and add:
Open Minerva_A.bsm
So if you choose for example key M Then the line will be:
M=Open Minerva_A.bsm
-Start the game.
In the main menu keys are not recognized so start a new game or load any save then press The selected key- M in this example.

First map of the dlc will load and you can play.

You can Save any time you want but in order to load them you need some hexing done on your saves.
-You need at least one valid savegame from the original campaign. Win7 Path: c:/Users/"USER NAME"/Documents/Bioshock2/SaveGames

Let's say it's name is: AUTOSAVEKali.bsb
-Open it with a hex editor like: http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/f ... /xvi32.htm
-Make a selection like it is showed at 1.jpg
Important that the last selected part is:
m a i n S a v e . b s g
(How to select? Hold Shift and use arrow keys)
-Click Edit/Clipboard/Copy
-Close the file.
-Now open the savegame from the dlc which you want to load.

Let's say it's name is: AUTOSAVEDLC4Kali.bsb
-Make a similar selection like what I showed you at the jpg. Again the end of the selection is:
m a i n S a v e . b s g
-Click Edit/Block delete
-Click Edit/Clipboard/Paste
-Save the file.
-Rename the the dlc's file (AUTOSAVEDLC4Kali.bsb) to the filename from the original campaign (AUTOSAVEKali.bsb)
-Now start the game and load the seemingly original campaign file. It'll in fact load your dlc file and you can continue.

You can of course turn any dlc file into any campaign file. Just follow this guideline.

______________

I recommend you to play the first level of the original campaign and make a few savegames along the way. The game can be unstable when there are no savegames made. I know this sounds silly but it seems to be true. You'll need at least one savegame anyway.
Also recommend to leave vsync on. Turning it off can cause unstability.

@prudislav:
I don't think so. That one is not just starting maps but has some "advanced menu controls" to start specific events on the maps.
but you can use an online tricked account and go to dlc section and download it. It's free. and it's working!
