I know this topic hasn't seen a reply on about a month, however I'd like to make my lurking presence known.

Your save files are not gone, they still exist under the old appid for F.E.A.R. 3 and can be recovered using the below method.

Navigate to \Steam\userdata\*random numbers*\40140 which is the old appid

copy everything from that folder into \Steam\userdata\*random numbers*\91210 and presto, your saves will have returned.

As for the *random numbers* bit, there will be several folders in userdata consisting of a random assortment of numbers, search all of them, you'll figure it out.

  8. 1. Install F.E.A.R. 3 in "...\Steam\steamapps\common\f.e.a.r. 3", whereby the ellipsis (...) states that you can have Steam installed anywhere, but the game MUST be installed in the aforementioned path.

  10. 2. Extract ALL OF THE FILES in the game fix archive to the game's installation directory

  12. 3. Play the game, and invite friends over to your lobby, or join any lobby.
