Are there any non-steam studiomdl.exe's around anywhere? I'm wanting to compile some models of mine but the studiomdl.exe I have just will not work. I've tried just about everything to try and get it to work, but only to no avail.

I've tried searching the forum and other sites for a non-steam studiomdl but I found nothing. Does anyone know if a non-steam studiomdl is around? Or could I create my own my altering the source code of studiomdl and then compiling it back into an .exe?

So does anybody know? Perhaps a cracked steam.dll would fix the errors I'm getting. More specifically, errors because of "steamemu.ini" not being found.

There's not a hope in hell I'm getting steam. Cracked versions of studiomdl and the other sdk tools would allow users who despise the use steam to be able to use the tools without the need for another pathetic DRM.

I think this feature of the source sdk tools needing steam installed can be removed by editing the source codes of the .exe's. I'm going to see what I can do about this and post my results later.

you do realize that "cracking" steam so you can run something thats already "free" and still requires steam to be "running" is retarded right ?
I hate people that bitch about steam being drm when its really not

I'm not asking to crack all of steam itself. Only the source sdk programs so they can run independently without the use of steam. Why? It'll spare me any added aggravation and probably fix other users problems relating to steam dependence on these programs.

That "steamemu" problem mentioned in my second post in this topic could also be easily fixed by means of editing the source code of the programs.

SteamEmu, hCUPa's legendary emulator? You can find the download here, and that'd include the INI file. I'm not sure it'll work, though. As far as I remember, it's been long broken by the changes in Steam since 2008.

I replaced steam.dll with the one included in that archive and got some different results. The source sdk tools still don't work but I'm now getting an error about "App provided bad argument to steam API."
