Im siding with Blizz here. They have a stronger foot to stand on. Think Value is trying to cash in on a big intrest. Thats also why they are calling it Dota 2...

Also I personally don't know if Dota was originally created from the official map maker, but if so, there might be T & Cs saying that all material created, may be Bliazzrds property. I don't know.

Blizz is right, Valve is wrong to trying to trademark Dota, actually Blizzard already said that Valve shouldn't trademark Dota, in October 2010.

I despise WOW and it's fans but I did hear that DOTA 1 is a mod made by fans.
So not having studied this subject in depth, my first reaction to this lawsuit where 2 corporations are fighting over DOTA, would be to ask where are the fans and their opinions in this equation?

A bunch of talented people made a mod for free and now we have 2 epicly rich companies fighting over which one of them should sell a sequel to this FREE MOD MADE BY FREE PEOPLE.
Where is their say in this? Why can't those fans have a say in this??

Valve hired Icefrog, who worked on (created?) DotA for Warcraft 3. There is some controversy over who actually owns this. The devs over at Riot games claim they started the DotA mod and therefore, own it. Blizzard says they do. Valve says they have the creator/owner so they own it now.

It's a mess. But, Icefrog is the current developer of DotA for Warcraft 3 and is still working on it.

I think Valve (and IceFrog) have all rights to trademark DotA. He developped the mod for the last 7 years, so it's basically his.

However, technically, Defense of the Ancients would belong to an unknown map maker by the name of "Eul". Steve Feak (from Riot Games) took this and developped it into DotA Allstars which IceFrog overtook then somewhen.

blizzard hasnt even try to make their own dota until valve came to that idea, and i'm glad because of it, i'm on Valve side.Yes chris your right, and if i know, EUL works with valve on dota 2, so i dont see how is blizzard going win on this one.

i dont understand why people keep clinging to icefrog,like if game will die without him.He isnt developing map all alone and just convinient to dota community.
