Code quality maybe? But that's just the result of our tests back then.
The only tool that provided what I was looking for was OpenVPN.
Sure I could use some extra features, but in the end, the quality of the connection was the most important thing.

Both applications are working fine for my friends and me. At the moment we are using Evolve without problems.
But the problem is that you rely on their network (login system) to be able to connect with your friends.
Network full or problem with their login system = no gaming (Hamachi had this problem a lot).
A tool to be able to setup your own LAN network over internet (peer-to-peer) WITHOUT a third party (login server) would be great. Does such a tool exist? So user 1 starts a server with that tool, user 2 (and user 3, 4, ...) connects to this server with filling in the IP from user 1....and voila...a real private network over internet.
