Server requires steam showing up but i think thats because the update needed. 1. Update dota to the lastest version! 2. Copy dota 2 beta folder and rename second one to dota 2 server 2. Extract the server files into dota 2 server folder 3. open dota 2 server \dota\gameinfo.txt and change 482 version number to 484 4. Run server.bat 5. run steam 6. set -console to dota shortcut 7. run dota and connect to your ip Think it should work steam offline mode right ? alright my man, I ll test this once I get back from work xD I also got a reply at alliedModders to paste this and run : https://mega.co.nz/#!c04y0TjR!fE0rBBJ6g ... PYnTOCx9A0I ll scan it and test it too

And by the way, skip the line for 482 and 484 in the game info, I was tired and now i realized that not alike the other titles, this one don't specify version in there. I couldn't make it connect as client at first attempt, but someone need to crack the client or revemu to release version that officially supports it.

Just make sure you guys set sv_lan to 0 in the server.bat file and that steam is online in the background.

When you first run the game it will create cfg files. dota 2 beta\dota\cfg You can then open them and edit manually whatever you like. Talking about settings. sv_cheats "1" sv_lan "1" sv_hibernate_when_empty "0" (if you running server, setting it to 1 will cause server to idle) dota_bot_disable "0" dota_bot_practice_difficulty "3" (from 0 to 3) dota_bot_set_difficulty "3" (from 0 to 3) dota_wait_for_players_to_load "1" dota_wait_for_players_to_load_timeout "60" dota_force_gamemode "1" (do no wait in the lobby) dota_start_ai_game "1" You can use those for choosing team. jointeam "good" (radiant) jointeam "bad" (dire) jointeam "spec" (spectator) map "dota" Or type map in the console and it will show you the options. dota_bot_populate "1" dota_surrender_on_disconnect "0" (if you want to spectate bots) Put custom cfg with the desired settings or the saved ones, even control settings... in the folder that i said and you can run the game with that command here. -console +exec custom.cfg Playing in lan without steam, no success here. On second note, playing without steam, dedicated server running with revemu, create logs, defaults id to 1:0:0 if not using original steamclient dll. But client wont run with revemu, crashes when attempts to connect. Actually game requires internet to publish the local server. But even so, #GameUI_ServerRequireSteam if you run it without steam. Tried to listen server, it should work but forcing it to run with revemu in insecure lan mode restricted to class C, crashes the game with no reason. Theres some chinese frontend which actually makes things much more easier for lan battles with legit way. http://dota2.uuu9.com/zs/Couldn't run it, complains that it requires SyserUI engine libs, which as far as i checked are stopped of development.

Good news is I finally got it working, everything is perfect but not with revemu. I still have to use the fucking steam xD I am highly thankful for your efforts. Thank you from the bottom of my souls (shadow fiend) xD

Official way works flawlessly good. http://rghost.net/45005133Includes lastest allied modders dota fixups and lastest metamod, also custom cfg file which automatically sets the rules for lan match. Copy dota 2 beta folder and rename the copied one to dota 2 sever Extract the package in dota 2 server folder. 1. If you don't want to make lan, open the bat file srcds.bat and set +sv_lan 1 to sv_lan 0 and others would be able to join. 2. Start srcds.bat from dota 2 server folder. 3. Copy dota.bat to your dota 2 beta folder, not the server folder. (same thing for sv_lan as above) 4. Run steam now. 5. Run dota.bat file from dota 2 beta folder. Connect localhost or connect your-ip-address-here Questions and other things. - You don't need mapple toolkit (mapple toolkit is just a gui for the commandline), just you should start the game with -console -steam -novid command line and it will work. Don't forget to start with -console -steam, thats important, if you don't start with it it might not join. - If your server crashes or quits quick with message like this below! Unable to load Steam support library. This server will operate in LAN mode only. - Copy the files vstdlib_s.dll, tier0_s.dll, steamclient.dll, and Steam.dll from ...\dota 2 beta\bin to ...\dota 2 beta\ where srcds.exe and dota.exe are. that should fix the issues with the server in case your pc don't detect if steam is installed. - Custom cfg included. That cfg contains +sv_lan 1 so in your server bat file you should put +sv_lan 0 after +exec custom.cfg to make it work in internet. - Server browser not showing up the server. That cannot be fixed as theres not supposed to have servers for it, just add your ip to favorite list. - Do not bind commands incustom cfg files, that will crash the game or the server too, if you doing it, do it after you run it. - You can't use dota_bot_populate in cfg, crashes the server, type the command after server is running if you want bots to appear.

Could you please link to the thread so we can follow updates ? have you tried revloader ? I will try it tonight hope we get rid of steam

Thats the official way! Which means client should have steam running, no cracks are used, no modification over the content of the game except the gameinfo.txt file. Here I should mention that dota2 developers once said they would add ability people to host lan tournaments and offline matches, I would love if they keep on their words so we to not have to hack and slash everything worrying about if we can get burned because of it. Game crashes explained: About that file, if you want to run the game with metamod it will crash. The dota2fixups are only for the server, do not use them on the game because you will have issues. Server crashes explained: On second note -game dota -steam -console -novid is used only for the game, for the server you cannot use that command, use only -game dota -console, if you use -steam command in server, server will crash, complaining for some assets that cannot be downloaded. Thats why you keep the game and the server in separate folders, you get less headaches then. The official sites about metamod snapshots. http://sourcemm.net/snapshotsAnd one for fixups is here. http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=209965Good luck with it. For no-steam like i said server crashing with "running in lan mode restricted to class c", which new versions of revemu fixes but no matter, when you attempt to connect with the client, dota2 client tries to connect to itself. I would try to use host port and clientport so to force the game to see the server, not itself to see if that would work. I will try use some patches and hook luma dedicated, then run a master server and see what wireshark will show. Think it is possible to run no-steam if you have the full cache, if the game gets callback from some server and if see your localhost srcds instead itself. It still complains about client requires steam even when it is running with revemu, hope revemu developers to investigate this issue.

For me, Dota 2 is working perfectly on LAN. Playing with friends, although there is a problem. Joining team needs to be done from console, no UI for it. And then comes spectators. If someone wants to spectate, he can only spectate if he joins with other players and types jointeam spec when others type jointeam good/bad. Is there any option for people to spectate when the game is going on, like what happens online. Also, can we set a delay for spectating or else, possibility for cheating becomes high. And what does the command dota_wait_for_players_to_load_count do? Is this a max players option or a count for how many players allowed to play?

And I dont think there is something u can do about it for now -dota_wait_for_players_to_load_count adds the same counter u get when playing pub. it is obvious, it waits for others to connect rather then start the game then pause
