Is Smartsteam emu 1.1.2 is working out of the box with the last update ? There's a discount price at this time on steam and I'm ready to buy it if I can using it for my next LAN party !

I haven't tried it yet because the latest update in this thread still has Steam stub DRM in it. DRM has to be removed before Smartsteam will work with a game.

I just tested the game with the latest SmartSteam, the original steam_api.dll, and MAchine's deprotected executable, and apparently the game doesn't use the Steam API/infrastructure for its multiplayer because I got a list of Internet servers without running Steam. The game client doesn't appear to be able to create a multiplayer session. The SmartSteam log shows Steam achievement and leaderboard use but not network calls.

I got it to work without cracking the server! Apparently the game does use Steam authentication for multiplayer, and SmartSteam provides that.

All you have to do is launch the game server executable using SmartSteam as well as use it to separately launch the client executable. I ran both the server and client on the same PC and was able to connect and play. If you launch the game server without using SmartSteam to launch it, you will be kicked when you try to join your own server.

What is especially cool is that the server is listed with all of the other ones in the Internet multiplayer list so anyone else can join the server as well.

Do you use the cracked exe for the client ?
Because I can launch the dedicated server with steamemu , but when I'm using SSE with the client I got a message box with :
"Application Load Error 9:0000065432"

yes you will need the cracked .exe if you are using SSE.

I have the RELOADED release of the game.
I've updated to 1.0.3.0 using the download from here (I also copied the steam_api.dll and 3DMGAME.ini from the crack folder into the game's bin32 older). I updated to FTS' update 1 first as instructed.
I'm using Machine's cracked 1.0.3.0 exe
I'm using Smart Steam emu 1.1.2 with a separate config file for both the client (for both clients) and server. In the configs I just changed the profile name and exe name, the rest was left standard.

I can't get it going. I can host a server and join it from the same PC running the server, but any other computer trying to join gets kicked. If I disconnect from the server on the original PC, then the second one can join the server, however, the first PC will then get kicked when trying to join the server. This was all using the 3DM steam_api.dll from update 2.

I then tried using the steam_api.dll that came installed with the Reloaded release (not the one in their crack folder) and when I try to run smartsteam to launch the client, nothing happens.

I suspect I'm missing the proper steam_api.dll? Could someone please provide the correct dll so I can test?

Thanks, but unfortunately still no luck. I can join the server from only 1 system. As soon as I try a second PC, it will kick it out.

I'm going to start from scratch, using the fresh Reloaded install and will get it working on each version, so I can find out when it dies. I suspect the 1.0.3.0 update kills it, but I'll post back once done.

This is probably due to the fact that both PC's have the same Steam ID. Set SmartSteam Emulator to generate a unique one for each PC using its IP address by setting "SteamIdGeneration = ip" in the INI file.

Each PC and the server must also be running SmartSteam Emulator. By default the server will use the steamclient.dll that is in the directory with the game. You don't want it to do that because it will use real Steam authentication.
