Please be careful about letting little slights against people slip in. The use of the word "kid" if referring to one who is not a kid, is still demeaning. My unsolicited advice is to un-ignore the user since both of you politely agreed not to continue the argument. Getting a better impression of the other may help heal whatever personal rifts are felt.

As for Ubi .. they make some great games, no doubt, but they are also a bit deceptive (play tricks on wording at the expense of their users). They promised no online-only DRM, which may be technically true, but some of their games are crippled (HoMM6 or MMH6, depending which title you use, lol, depriving even offline legit users from awesome 'Dynasty' weapons and traits which reshapes your strategy and disallow playing your online save offline) while others just flat out deprive even legit plays of collectibles and rewards (AC4).

However, it's a business and its priority is to make cash, which it needs to survive. I don't mind their anti-piracy schemes ... I expect some losses when pirating a game as opposed to buying it, but I do NOT expect those who buy it to also suffer because of it. Me, personally, I won't play anything online ever. My philosophy is principally opposed to it (if not security, then definitely privacy). Ubi's methodology has done nothing more to me as an individual but remove any incentives to actually buy their games. They aren't "evil" and have quite a bit of talent. However, they also aren't a company I want to reward because of their treatment of patrons, especially those on PC.

I understand you and will try to keep this conversation in private, cause i do not want to harass others with that.

Well what can I say, most of the organisations think so. But I think ubisoft is (in my opinion) not so bad like other organisations. I mean look Activison or EA. I REALLY would have bought Battlefield 4 for pc, but I DIDN'T cause ***** origin. You know what i mean? Or Activison, making all the time the same ***** thing, and thinking: "this time it's gonna be different." No man No, it's always nearly the same game. It's not Call of Duty 10 it's Call of Duty 8,5. And the sad think is people buy this game and support the developers. I do not want to understand this.

Ubisoft always bring a good story and (for a certain time) a good multiplayer. ( Far Cry, Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed, Watch_Dogs <3 ) :)

Oh, please don't think I was implying that people shouldn't buy Ubi games. For those who want online play it would be quite worthwhile. I was just saying they removed any motivation for offline players to purchase instead of pirate with their DRM scheme. A pirate can get more content offline than legit users can. Their games are worth the cash ... it's their behavior that crossed a line in my personal preferences.

EA, heh, haven't heard that name in a while. I must not be into anything they put out these days. As for DRM practices, my hero is CD Projekt RED (mostly known for The Witcher), who decided not to use any DRM. My villain is Blizzard, who stores so much of Diablo3 on its servers that the game is pretty much an online game only, whether single player or not. First they killed Warcraft with WoW, then they kill Diablo, those bastards! ;)

Well i am like you (I guess) more a Singleplayer gamer. I understand what you mean with "A pirate can get more content offline than legit users can." I know that was not a good decision from Ubisoft. I am person who always collect everything and well then i don't realize such things like that.

I remembered to the Assassin's Creed 2 DRM

CD Projekt RED <3 ... I must really say that I love them :D The Witcher 2 was such a good game. And they don't use ANY DRM and give dlc's for free, which are coming with the Updates. I look forward to The Witcher 3, I think it will be a very good game.

Maxis did the same with the latest Simcity but, unlike Blizzard with Diablo3, they decided to patch it for offline (better late than never).

Diablo 3 is quite a good game (not the same class as its predecessors, but good), but the online necessitation from Blizzard is a pain. I sometimes have the feeling they have more of my game content stored on their servers than I have on my hdd. :? And I don't think that they will loosen their DRM politics even just a bit, no, they will keep pushing forward with every game they release in the future, I'm quite sure about that.

Very true! Of course, outraging their legit customers with crashing servers upon release certainly did help persuade them to relax their online requirement just a tad, lol. It's still nice when people listen to their customers' valid complaints and are willing to re-adjust their policies.

Yeah, I don't look forward to many games, but I was awaiting Diablo3 in high anticipation (based on beta videos). Battle.net is here to stay, and Blizzard will defend using it for SP games despite all the lawsuits (and violations in a few countries). It's safe to say the only way an offline-only player will play D3 or any future game by them is if it's done through a deal with Good Old Games (another hero is my list) or something ... highly unlikely given Blizzard's attitude. I'll just know not to pay much mind to any future releases by them, since I won't be playing them whether I think I'd like it enough to buy it or not.

Hello!
I was at sequence 5(I was about to go and sabotage the lighthouse) and today the game says "Damaged savegame". Any way to recover it? Version is Skidrow. Found a 3DM savegame, downloaded the "unlockers" from this thread, no combination of 1.sav/e 2.sav/e worked. Not going to start from beginning...
Thank you!

Simcity offline patch is still in beta testing and we are at march the 1st.

Some Ea members have justified this saying the game was entirely programmed without offline mode in mind, so now it became a pain in the ass for maxis programmers to adapt the code and had to entirely rewrite entire parts of the game engine.

Probably not. The game doesn't run that bad anyway, so there's probably no need for a patch.

So uh...do we have a save converter for this game yet? I'd like to transfer my save file for a friend but my game is Uplay and his is 3DM so a simple copy-paste doesn't work :/

3DM's save convert tool (see attachement) for ACIV-BF is working for ACL HD savegames as well. Just use it as described in the ACIV-BF thread (you'll have to read a bit maybe... ), then you're good to go!
