Try setting exe properties to always run as administrator and try again.

Post subject:  Steam Workshop; Re: Killing Floor

Is there a way to configure this so that Steam Workshop mods are downloaded to their proper locations? It seems that Steam Workshop mods I download are not installed in their proper locations even though in Steam > Library > Downloads, the mods I subscribe to are reported as downloaded and 'ready to play'.

For example, I tried download 'The Brute' mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... d=98282226. I searched for its files in my whole Steam folder (I installed KF at C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Killing Floor) and found one of its files at C:\Games\Steam\userdata\166226335\ugc\referenced\577870551124723634\animations\wpc_brute.ukx.

This however, is missing the .u and .ucl files and couple other files, preventing the use of the mutator. So, how do I configure this installation of KF so that Steam Workshop mods are downloaded to their proper locations?

for alot of games, when you run the game from steam. the workshop mods are copied (or extracted if they are packed) to the correct place in game. not sure how it works for this game, but you may have to find a way to manually extract your ukx file. who knows, it may just be a zip file with a different extension.

The .UKX file is not a compressed file that needs to be extracted to install. See the files contained in the \Killing Floor\Animations folder, which contains a lot of UKX files. It is a part of a group of files that comprises the mod. It is correctly downloaded under the \Animations\ folder, but not correctly placed in my Killing Floor directory. Also, it is missing a lot of files, including .U and .UCL files in the \System\ subfolder, .USX files under the \StaticMeshes\ folder and a .UAX file under the \Sounds\ folder.

I learned this by comparing the Steam Workshop download to a download of the mod from another site. I tried subscribing to other mods too, and they are also missing files and are downloaded to \Steam\userdata\166226335\ugc\referenced\ instead of at \Steam\steamapps\common\Killing Floor\, which is weird.

it's not wierd at all, games usually check the steam ugc folder and then import found content to the game. even legit games download their content to the ugc folder first. i dunno about missing files though

Post subject:  Re: Killing Floor

thanks sam!

edit: didn't work for me, i did the following steps:

1. closed steam
2. ran the patcher program
3. pointed it to my \Steam\appcache\packageinfo.vdf file
4. put in a couple of DLC appids and pressed patch after each DLC appid

Still says I don't have any of them when I restart steam and killing floor..

I am using my legit account with a lot of games on it. Perhaps this has something to do with it?

Delete the packageinfo.vdf and let steam create a new one and try again.
you should see them under game's dlc tab in steam library.
