This is actually a thread I posted somewhere else, I am hoping I can get some feed back here?

Thanx in advance

QUOTED from a Topic on another board

Quote:
@SABERWOLF: I have always been curious too what this SweetFX tool is suppose to accomplish..

I would have posted my remarks on the SweetFX thread that was open here, but for some odd reason it was closed? :3eyes:

Which I found weird, being guru is a full supporter of the tool.

Anyway... I have tried using presets located here http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/

I was particularly interested in this preset for Modern Warfare 3

Located here: http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/1480/

the MOD really makes the map detail pop out at you, if you look at his screenshots

But for some reason when I use this guys preset for MW3, it adds so much contrast to the game :bang: makes it look like I am playing in the dark

My Screens of my game

SweetFX: enabled

Image

SweetFX: disabled

Image

I personally like the disabled screen better between the two, which is originally what it looks like, which is crap!

In fact that's how all of the presets look for games that I play, they just add a high amount of contrast, which darkens the games that I play.

How are these guys achieving these effects, cause personally I don't see any?

Would like to get a handle on how I am suppose to apply all these effects like the guys screenshots he posted for his presets.

I am doing something wrong???

I am using RadeonPro too apply the SweetFX preset.

Thanx in advance.

@Cyberdyne WROTE: SweetFX has gone though many many different versions, including custom injectors and different effects get added by different people and removed in other versions, and sometimes existing effects have their value ranges changed.
So it's important to use the exact same version the maker of the profile used.
The maker of that SweetFX himself suggest's you use "Boulotaur2024's_SweetFX v1.5". It's easily possible that your RadeonPro is using a different version. Boulotaur's builds usually have extra effects in them.

@SABERWOLF WROTE: yeah! I kinda figured it was the program I was using too filter the MODS

I did some reseach after I made this thread, found FlightFX :)

http://riseofflight.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34103

Really ez program too use when filtering MODS for games.

Now I can see the difference in the guys preset :)

Looks great.

Here is my follow up

Problem :( FlightFX is not working with all all the presets that I have in reference too what games I would like to use, like Black Ops 2

Anyone know of a program filters that works indefinitely with all presets MODS?

In other words, what is the universal program that is used for filtering presets for SweetFX?

I am hoping some of you members here can fill me in on what program I need to filter these preset MODs for SweetFX :)

Both look like bad first too dark secound to bright. Still if i had to pick one i would say the one with Sweetfx looks better.

Still SweetFX is kinda pointless you can hav similar effect with making game darker with game options...

I've never liked SweetFX or similar. Cranking up saturation, turning down gamma and/or adding sharpen doesn't make the game "better", but just "different". In a wrong way.

There are couple of tools that you can use to configure SweetFX settings:
SweetFX Configurator:
http://sweetfx.thelazy.net/
FlightFX:
http://www.777studios.net/ROF_Utilities ... X_V1.0.zip
Radeon Pro (For Radeon graphics cards users):
http://www.radeonpro.info/download/

The biggest problem with presets is, that everyone has different monitor setting, different graphics card, different ingame settings and a different taste and while the preset looks like in the screenshot for the original creator, it might look totally different for someone else.

Default monitor values, default ingame settings should be a requirement for any preset shared but many simply forgot about it.

Of course does SweetFX make a difference but i would recommend to do your own preset for every game that fits your taste and needs instead of using presets from the internet for the reason above but you can use them as a base to work from there if you don't know what to change into which direction.

I use SweetFX only to remove ugly fog, give more detail and sharpness to the image and make it look more clean overall, i rarely change the default colors or saturation except for the colors look washed out for some reason.

Indeed. I always make my own presets for games. For those who want to try someone elses configs here is SweetFX settings database:

Thanx for the in depth explanation ;)

I usually get the down loaders preset, then improve on it, weather I decrease or increase a setting in their preset, I always tweak it to my satisfaction.

I just use their preset as a stepping stone.

I too use SweetFX too get rid of that freaking fog, don't know why these fps games (especially COD) incorporate it into their games in the first place?

Black Ops II was just about the only COD I've seen that was not hammered with that smoggy fog effect.

I originally started with Radeon Pro, did not like the way the program handled the MOD, that's why I went with FlightFX, but I've noticed that FlightFX is not working with a couple if games that I have (Black Op II) thou the games in question are on the approved list too use SweetFX on them.

SweetFX Config is OK, but it lacks the GUI like FlightFX does, an that program also gives me problems with some games when filtering the MOD presets, thou the games are approved to play with SweetFX.

I am guessing these are the only programs available to use SweetFX in?

In regards too running Call of Duty W.A.W., M.W.2, M.W.3 without a texture MOD, you would be crazy not to do so, game looks 10x better.

On a side note, does anyone have a working Modern Warfare 3 FOV changer, or perhaps a FOV changer for M.W.2?

Personally, i'm partial to ENBSeries.

But I can't tell you how well/if it works because I don't play COD games. Maybe you could give it a try

ReShade is excellent. Regarding the original post, I like the untouched better because the dark of the modified pic is hiding detail in the pitch black and also, it makes the scene look completely different; changing the time of day. But that's just me. I like to use injectors like these for getting rid of AA, scanlines for games in which you can't get rid of all jaggies, pixel borders to hide flickering, smoothing out textures or text that are too low rez, and adding gaussian bloom so most of my games look gorgeous. I don't really like using it to completely change the whole scene.

Is this Reshade a new name for SweetFX 2.0?

I am trying to get this Reshade to work with Resident.Evil.Revelations.2
, it appears to have injected into my game, yet I see no sighs of graphical improvment.

I don't know why are these presets that SeeetFX designers produce are done with different versions of SweetFX, thats so many other versions you have to turn too to get the preset MOD too work for whatever game you are trying to play... an there is no guarantee it will work.

So far I had been through like 4 different GUI for using SweetFX presets, thou... I do like FlightFX sweet looking user GUI it fails to work with a multitude of games, actually I have only gotten it too work with one game an that's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 :(

I wish there was just one solid universal program to use for these presets.
