Once again valve implemented a new lock, this time it's a run lock for the games that were already locked to activate, they now require you to be in that region to play and it was a retro lock, so i guess that's why the guy who posted about the ru bo2 couldn't play anymore.

So ppl who were still using vpn to activate their cheaper games won't be able to play it without a vpn on as well afaik. Maybe if steam is started offline they could fool it who knows right...

This is no secret, and it only applies to RU-CD Keys which I quit buying years ago, I have been buying region locked games since region locked games were available. Don't buy RU cd keys, buy RU Steam gifts, activate using a vpn, done. All my RU steam gift games work as they should.

I recently bought a RU cd key just to see what would happen (few months ago) vpn activated it but when not using a vpn I got the same message as you show above. I had to contact Steam have them remove the game from my library then I bought same game RU Gift, vpn activated, then I can play with no vpn no problem.

He's talking about Russian/Brazilian gifts which have been completely locked since yesterday.

and it was not a retro lock, I still can play my Russian gifts with my own IP.

it might only applies to unactivated gifts in the inventory.

it was a retro to the gifts that had a red tag from 4 packs ru br sea, for example gauntlet. Since they implemented the cross region trade lock.

Also 4packs from ru and sea are now completely region locked so i guess br will be too.

Yeah retro lock for the gifts in the inventory, if you already have added the gift to your library, it's not locked.

there are conflicting reports then since some ppl claimed their gifts got retro locked even tough it was already in their library. whatever anyway.

On a side note, origin is giving away free titanfall season pass.
