You all remember that I have serious problems at home wity my dad and stuff.

I hope a one-time exception can be made for this topic.

My mother wants to get proof of my dad cheating on her. She told me she is pretty sure that there is proof on his computer. But the problem is that all information is stored in password protected Word Documents.

Now my question is, does anyone know a password hacker for word documents? I want the hack to try any combination of letters and numbers or ASCII character. So if you know this kind of bruteforce hack please PM me the link.

Note that I do not have the files yet. So if you want to help me out you will have to wait. I have to wait till he left home. Then I will take out his hard drive and start copying and upload it. The only problem is that some of the files contain credential stuff so I need to filter those out as well.

I think he also has some pictures of him cheating on my mom on some kind of USB stick. He lost it several times and asked me where it was so...

If I do not succeed before my mom is so tired of all this she can't handle it, we will be screwed financially. I will have to quit school and have nothing. And lose probably my girl friend as well.

So the only way to get him is to access the files and print the proof to give it to the court.

It is possible I cannot do the decoding password process myself. So I may need to ask someone with a fast CPU.

If it's a Word 2007/2010 OOXML file ( .docx ) or a Word XP/2003 file without being saved in a Word 97/2000 compatible format ( I'm not sure anymore what default settings here are ), you've got a little problem.

Anything up to about 6 alphanumeric chars is breakable in a resonable time frame ( about 8 hours ) on a modern CPU. 7 characters would already take over 2 weeks, and any password beyond that size is about unbreakable on assumption of alphanumeric characters. I am not aware of any GPU accelerated cracker, but there might be some, I didn't search in depth. ( Even then, 7 characters might be possible, 8 characters would even under that assumption take almost 1/3 year )

If it's a said Word 97/2000 file however, the data is not actually encrypted and the whole thing can be broken instantly.

uh actually there is a better way to get the password if it is too long but I won't recommend it ........ you can use a keylogger to catch the password he has input ......

btw may be developing a program which is using CUDA is a good way to crack it too ...... if multithread process can be used to crack the password .....

The best I came across is Parallel Pasword Recovery. But I can't find some suitable download.

Passwords are stored within the document itself as I have done research, so wouldn't it be quicker if the documents are decoded?

EDIT: I attached a document. If someone wishes to help decrypting, send me the password. All documents were created in 2004 witm Microsoft Office 8.0

All documents are in Office 97 format.

I tried bruteforcing it already. But a 8-character combination takes 190 years :/.

So I think I will go for decryption software

But as ChrisTX said, Word 97 files might not be encrypted so you might be in luck.
However, I don't know if any of these tools are capable of showing the data, i didn't try these myself.

Rixler Software has the instant decryption of documents. However even when I download a cracked version it still runs in demo...

Guaword is limited as well and I can't seem to find cracked Guaword.

Has anyone found a program that is cracked or free that has instant decryption?

edit: It looks like if the document has a password for opening (office 97) it applies a 40bit encryption, while you still need to brute-force it, your chance of succeeding are higher.

why do you want to find proof if its going to rip you're life apart?
