One of my cpu core died ?
I have a Pentium D830 cpu (dual core)
Before was recognized as dual core in CPU-Z,task manager and device manager, now i reinstaled my win 7 (from the same disk) and it is recognized as single core in all aplications, even in CPU-Z...not even Alien Swarm or Left 4 Dead 2 allows me to activate multicore rendering...

-- Edit --

I found exactly same problem here...
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r236560 ... ingle-core
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/266 ... prime95etc

I only had this problem in the past, with Windows XP, and that was because I didn't reinstall the OS properly. Have you upgraded your OS or have you formatted the windows partition and then reinstalled? What Windows 7 version did you use?

Also, there are some good things to look at at those two forum threads that you linked.. why don't you try reading them.

Reasons why this could be the case:
- Wrong HAL type installed: Unless you tampered with your install media, it's basically impossible.
- Boot options enforce to use a specific amount of cores: Check the advanced options in msconfig's boot tab and if the amount of cores to use is limited to 1 there. If so, uncheck.
- BIOS shows only one core: If the BIOS says there is only one core, so will the OS. Check if this is the case, and whether there are any options to set the amount of cores to use. Naturally, if your CPU was really broken, the BIOS would only see one core, too.

I tried everything from those two forum threads,i am using Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (32 bit) RTM buid 7600,(untouched iso burnt to DVD),the disc has no scratch and i reinstalled windows from it a lot,no problems, formated, clean install, all drivers up to date..
I read that is could be HAL,but i found info on how to fix on vista, nor Windows 7...tomorow gonna reinstall again...util then,I am happy with single core perfomance...

-- Edit --

ChrisTX
1.I am not sure.
2.There is only 1 cpu recognized.
3.My BIOS is updated (modded with SLIC 2.1,not the problem, worked before),a EP41-UD3L Gigabyte board...in BIOS on't show the number of cores, thou my Windows 7 say's that my pc is Multiprocessor Free...(in Device Manager, only 1 processor listed)

carefully check all bios settings. a friend of mine had a similar problem back when dual cores were new and he got it working by enabling something in bios.

Well...the most weird pc issue I have ever head...overclocking even from 3.000 Mhz to 3.015 Mhz (the bus from 200 to 201) fixed the issue 100%,restarting and disabling the overclock,i want to see if it's fixed...

-- Edit --

I disabled the overclock, everything is normal...
It seems like something happened when i reinstalled Windows 7 and the overclock forced Windows 7 to rescan my hardware, when i first booted with overclock on,windows downloaded a new CPU driver...

Thanks everyone,problem solved !

-- Edit --

Also in BIOS i have an option,No-Execute Memory Protect...should it enabled or disabled as i don't have any AMD CPU ?

Yes.
In fact that mobo wouldn't even work with any AMD CPU.

I overclocked only to fix it,also that bottleneck gave me a little performance increase...
