I have a OEM serial from my dell laptop.

I used that serial of windows 7 home premium x64 to install on my desktop pc as well which is a retail gigabyte motherboard.

I yesterday used that serial to install the same OS on my girl friends laptop which is a packard bell Easynote LJ61

Now my question is, why does it not work?

Is is possible because that isn't a slic 2.1 her packard bell?

If it isn't slic 2.1 will it be possible to mod it to slic 2.1? I mean by editing the bios and flashing it.

I know there are some hex editing tutorials. But I used a Windows 7 loader in the main time. But I am worried about the KB9xx1033 update. Which detects these loaders.

So my guess is where do I get a solution so I can use MY SERIAL instead of a ILLEGAL serial.

I paid for my laptop, which means i paid for my windows, so i choose who uses it

You can mod the BIOS, risks for bricking the computer exist though.

But why does it work on another computer which has a retail motherboard from Gigabyte? I would expect retail boards not to have a slice 2.1 table.

As far as my research went, I will need a slic table from ACER, since packard bell uses the ACER ones.
I am however asking myself the question will I risk this bios mod? If I happen fail and brick the notebook, my future father in law will not be so happy.

I have to use Phoenix BIOS Mod Tool, are there things I need to look out for? What happens if certificates don't match if i use the PACBEL.xrm-ms file to check the integrity?

You should not use ACER cert for a Dell OEM Key @ all (well you better check whether it is an OEM key or SLP key, the certificate will only works for SLP key) since a Dell SLP Key ..... the brand of the board actually doesn't matter ..... the main point is that whether the SLIC table in your BIOS and the cert installed match the key or not.

For example a dell SLP key would require a dell SLIC table in BIOS + SLP certificate that installed in Windows directory.

Why don't you just get Linux ?

I have a GIGABYTE GA-EP41-UD3L and I modded the BIOS with SLIC 2.1,so now my Windows 7 Ultimate recognized my PC as OEM,installed a GIGABYTE certificate and succesfully activated with an Acer serial from the internet...(ALL updates and 100% genuine,my Windows 7 Ultimate instalation is from an untouched MSDN Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit retail english dvd .iso file)

In Command Prompt,or make a bat file :


And don't forgot,the SLIC,CERTIFICATE and KEY has to be in harmony otherwise won't activate !
