Well first, this will not affect search results when hitting ENTER. So no big deal.
Second, instant search is not that old, so I'm sure not many people will miss instant search of restricted terms. So no big deal.
And third, you rarely use search suggestions containing words "torrent", "RapidShare" etc. Also search suggestions are not that old either. So no big deal.

This. I don't even use the instant search, so it really isn't a problem as far as I'm concerned. I'd be more worried if they actually started censoring their search results, but it's still not like I can't find torrents elsewhere. Some people do use Google to get them, though.

For those interested, here's a nice torrent metasearch engine.

Maybe
Quote:
The reason those words are censored is that they tend to devolve into piracy.

Or maybe they think like
Quote:
www.google.com/search?q=torrent

Four piracy results, one search. We would say that's out of control.

Or maybe they were just like
Quote:
Y'know, we don't like where these torrents are going, we think we are going to censor them.

Or maybe they say
Quote:
What's a moderator's job, if not to maintain the peace in his search results?

Their website, their rules, right? Internet is all about dictatorship, right? Yeah.

You are just getting a taste of your own medicine.

---

What do I feel about it? I am cool with it until they start censoring the real search results.

I rarely use search engines so I have no problem with that.

Considering AlicanC likes his random images so much, I thought I'd return the favor:

You know that you got to wait a little before MS starts photocopying rivals. I am sure they will add "torrent" into their lovely censor list soon enough:

I added the Related Searches fail as a bonus for your viewing pleasure.

Really? Let's have a look there:

Image

What, no results? Now this is strange... let's press "Enter":

Image

OH, ONLY 3.4 MILLION RESULTS HIDDEN.

Image

Good related results: "Google rocks", "Google is awesome", "french military victories", "dogpile", "find chuck norris"

If you do a comparison, Bing starts to fuck up after the first while Google keeps it fine until the 12th. "Dogpile" is also related because it's a search engine too. (Just like "Elgoog", "Cuil" and "Ask".)

I put that "Bing Sucks" example because you were like "OMG LOL BING DUS NOT CENSOR LOLOLOL!", but no. Both companies have their own censor lists so they are not really better than each other when it comes to censoring.

Recap
  1. Engine  Censors "suck"? Censors "torrent"?  Related Searches Score
  2.
  3. Bing    Yes             No                  1/5 (20%)
  4. Google  Yes             Yes                 15/20 (75%)

Some people aren't very experienced or don't have access to private trackers, so they find them via Google. I don't see anything wrong with that, except that you have to be careful not to get any fake torrents (and some users aren't).

Oh, and while we're at it, I don't know what Benjamin Franklin may have to do with Bing. The Chuck Norris and "French military victories" entries make more sense though, as far as I know the joke was typing those in the search box and clicking I'm Feeling Lucky.

Haha, reminds me of when I was having issues with my mobile phone subscription, so I visited my carrier's website and looked for a way to contact them via the Internet. A link read "click here to contact our customer support". It led to a 404 error. :?

I come from the times where I used google on win98...
There was no suggest, there was no filter the wasn't even a google images or something like that.
It was the homepage with no account, no sign in option, no gmail, no youtube, no instant search no NOTHING.
Just google search and I'm feeling lucky and THAT IS ALL.
No fucking suggestions and I still managed to find anything I wanted.
As a matter of fact I used to be able to find more stuff back then than I am now...
Not to mention that the internet was a million times more dangerous and open back then, with no anti-piracy or porn rules and with internet explorer being the main shit + no AV apps to protect your ass!
When I wanted to find some decent porn to jack off, there was no porn video streaming site, no torrent no nothing.
The best way to find porn or piracy was to search google for random sites that had mirrors.
I couldn't even get a decent fap on porn without being invaded by child pornography every where I went and auto dial trojans and etc.
When I registered on this mother fucker, there were PORN AND MURDER ADS ON RIN!
There were literally real beheading .gif's and child porn gifs between each post in this forum.
There was no adblocker there was no way of blocking ads, nobody even considered the idea of blocking ads back then.

I had issues visiting cs.rin.ru due to gifs of child pornography and gifs of people getting executed and tortured!!!!

SO my BIG question is, why the fuck are you spoiled mother fuckers, bitching about what google is doing right now.

As a matter of fact, they have to hide possibly obscene suggestions. Got something without a verb that is usually related sexual content that you want to show me here? Also, it does not hide them like Google does with Instant.

Plus you're somewhat the poor guy that always runs into 'issues':
