Whats the best video editing tool for windows 7 ? I ask because I used to use video edit magic on XP because I am able to edit sound and picture sepratly of eachother when editing .avi (but this program also have its flaws after all). Now I got a new PC with Windows 7, so now I can't use video edit magic any more. What else is there that isn't just yet another stupid clone of windows movie maker that can't do anything other than cut, copy and paste? When I ask TV stations, they say buy a mac, but since I just got my new PC thats not really an option. Isn't there anything usefull at all out there that is able to run on windows 7?

Video Edit Magic should work on Windows 7, considering it is advertised as Vista compatible.
Getting a Mac does not really help the case either, considering the two absolute top products in that segment - Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer - do work on Windows, too. Naturally there is no 'best video editing tool' either. If you judge by feature, disregarding price (i.e. cracked) then the answer would be easy, get Premiere (Media Composer requires special hardware). However, Premiere isn't the easiest thing available.
I'd recommend you to try out Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 (available as part of the 2011 series Windows Live wave, which is Windows Vista/7 exclusive), and evaluate that. The version of Windows Movie Maker included with XP is now almost 7 years old, so you can imagine that there has been quite some progress. However, Windows Movie Maker was never aiming at the semi-pro/pro market, so if you need something more complicated/powerful, then you might want to try out something different, if it does not fit your needs.
There's of course VirtualDub (open source) and MAGIX Movie Edit Pro (solid tool for the home market needs) over that.
If you don't care, and want something really professional, get either Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas Pro. Both of them are aimed at the purely professional market, however, they do require skills, too.

You can install it, but when you try to run it you will get an error message that it doesn't work on windows 7, and then you can download some other program that looks more like a windows movie maker clone. thank you for the answer.

Try 'Sony Vegas Pro' or 'Ulead VideoStudio'. They've got a lot more functionality than Windows Movie Maker, but aren't as complex as After Effects or Premiere

You should use VirtualDub with AviSynth and K-Lite Mega Codec Pack for general purpose editing and encoding.
