Post subject:  Computer help needed!
I usually am good at figuring these types of things out but this seriously puzzled me. My friend gave me her laptop (she is korean and doesn't know english that well) and she said there was a problem starting up. I was like ok let me look at it. So I get home, boot it up and get a message saying "No Bootable Device. Please Restart". I opened the BIOS and under the Boot Menu it's just blank. Literally blank. On the main page under HDD it says [Not Detected]. I had windows 7 on a USB (it's a netbook so no CD-Drive) and when I went to install it didn't detect any hard drives or anything. Could the connection to the hard drive have failed? Or the hard drive itself fail? I haven't encountered anything like this so I don't know what to do. It's a Inspiron Duo (the screen flips back so you can use it as a touch screen). Any ideas?

It sounds like your Hard Drive has gone bad if BIOS is not finding it. Or it could be a setting in BIOS that keeps it from finding the drive.

Is there any way you can reset the cmos on that piece of shit?
This is another reason why I find notebooks utterly useless.

Its simple dude. Hard disk is not working then how can you boot from cd and how can you install new window on crashed HDD.
