I can understand why it's better to play games on that rather than on a touch screen only device like your phone that can already emulate almost all of the retro systems to a degree where almost any 2d or 3d classical game runs perfectly but lacks actual gamepad buttons.
What I don't understand however is why would I want this over a PSP with a custom firwmare?
I have a PSP since ages to which I've installed a custom firmware that allows you to play iso's and run apps from the memory card.
With the PSP you can emulate almost any pocket or home console that you can think of for free and you also get the benefit of the psp physical buttons which go great with the emulation of most retro home and pocket consoles.
If this pocket retro consoles emulator only emulates NES, SNES, GBA, Sega Genesis and Neo Geo, it already does less than the psp and even less than most of the already cheap android phones out there...
In this day and age when all pocket devices tend to fuse and become part of your smartphone, buying extra pocket devices just seems pointless.
I would much rather buy a microusb or bluetooth gamepad frame so I can frame my phone with it and get gamepad buttons on my phone for when I want to turn my phone into a pocket console, which is a much better way to emulate and play games in my opinion.
After a certain age, being seen in public playing games on a pocket device that's not a phone, could even be embarrassing to be honest.
I have decided many years ago to refrain from using a pocket console device in public, simply because it makes you look retarded unless you are around the age of 17 or below...
If you are over 18 and you want to game in public on a pocket device, you should use your phone if you don't want to risk looking dumb.
If you really don't care that people around you consider you to be lame that you rock your pocket gaming only device even though you are a full grown adult, then I see no problem using anything.
In the mean time, I suggest you google for images or videos of "android phone gamepad" and reconsider buying a retro console emulator pocket device when the phones are already doing this better.
