Extract the zip and run it five times. Then just leave it going.
Everyone doing it go to #ddossteam at irc.efnet.net

I have an idea, how about we all ping steampowered.com for ages. They couldn't cope with that and their website would crash for a while. Unfortunately we can't ping their master server, but we can ping their website. If all few hundred of us do this, they will be screwed.
So for the next few hours, everyone ping steampowered.com

For those who don't know how:
1. Start Menu > run.
2. type cmd, press enter.
3. type "ping steampowered.com -t" without quotes.
4. Leave it running for a few hours. We'll see what happens.

You can also open 5 consoles each as well, that will up the traffic a bit.
It won't effect any of us because we can cope with 5 ping requests going out, but steam can't cope with 2000 requests.

you would need like the whole community doing it or else it would have little effect. If we could get everyone, then yes, it would be worth a shot.

What would be the point of ping flood their webserver? If you want to "screw" Steam you've to attack their content/master servers not their webserver. BS their routers will close Echo after a few pings to avoid DDoS.

Pointless and... lame.

Well I've been going since I posted this with 4 consoles, and it's still open. So if everyone does it, we can mass DDos them.

im in overngiht :) tho i think they can track u down by isp right?

they can, but why would they bother tracking 200+ people.
You can tell once it starts working because the ping should return not responding or a higher ping.
Then after we screw their web server we could start on the content servers and master servers. We just have to find another protocol other than icmp to ping them.

Why don't you make a website that hotlinks images from Steams site and put on an auto refresh?

Why dont you ping them with 999 bytes of data?

eg ping steampowered.com -t -l 999

Post subject:

what would 999 bytes of data do. That's just under 1kb. Is that so that the more people that do that, the higher the data that is pinging, so the quicker it will lag out?

-ping 105015
thats crazy/

Post subject:

that doesn't work. The packet is too big, you just keep getting not responding.
