GX6688, your error means that certain function is not yet emulated. how do i reproduce it?

theyarealltaken, you dont need to login with legit account, nor you do need to copy steam.dll there and there. however you do really need platform.gcf for gui to start up. your 'remember password' function might be a source of some problems, but it still seems weird to me. fresh install also works fine here, so does just removing clientregistry.blob. also there should be no way steam client will reject any username/pass once emu is installed.
if you remove everything, then install steam client and let it update itself, then copy over emu files and try to start SteamClient.exe, what is EXACT error message you are getting?

full installer, that would just mean including valve's steam client installer into emu. i dont feel that its needed, since most of people already have/can easily get steam client separately. and once you copy emu you already can run steamclient.exe with any name/pass w/out ever connecting to valve

steam.dll name, no its not possible to change it to something else. it will envolve changing other valve files (even all games)

karcher, when are you getting filesystem_steam.dll problem?

When trying to launch every possible game. Steam launches with your SteamClient.exe, all the files of the new steamemu are in the Steam directory (that is d:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\).

I've tried to launch:
Hl2, CSS, HL2DM, SDS and SSDK.
The same problem occurs everywhere. First i get two times the
"Cannot find steamemu.ini but i really need it." msgbox then once "Can't load D:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\*myaccount*\Half-Life 2(or else)\bin\filesystem_steam.dll")

Don't wanna to misslead you but could this be the problem of my windows locale? [pl]

Btw.. everything works fine with your SteamLauncher (v1.0), so i don't have (don't i?) steam files updated for a long time (since you relesed SL). Could this be the problem?

karcher, it tries to find steamemu.ini in 2 locations:
1) current directory
2) steam client install directory
latter is obtained by looking in registry for HKLM\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam key InstallPath. check your registry for it. you might have it in HKCU not in HKLM for example. also as a temporary workaround try putting .ini in game directory

That's because the launch options part isn't working correctly. The same with if you double click a server it won't auto connect, because it tries to stick -connect bla bla on the commandline and it doesn't apply it.

Great work hCUPa, a very nice idea too. :)

SirArthur, have you written a server browser that uses Valve's protocol? or only the fucksteam one?? I was gonna have a try at figuring out the protocol and writing a server thingy (probably through PHP+MySQL if possible...), but if you've already done that I won't bother.

Mkay that did work, but now i get:
"MountAppFilesystem() failed: You don't have all GCFs needed to play this game".

They're there i assure you.

I've tried to hack steamemu.ini to point out the proper location:
BaseDir=D:\Progra~1\Valve\Steam\SteamApps
Did not helped so i'm stuck once again.

And yes my registry point's out to HKCU not HKLM (is that a problem?)

ummm hCUPa.. remind me again why users dont want steam to comunicate with steam servers including the gcf wont update..
the creating of cracking servers is one goal of this i think..
anyways its teh pretty much same emu2.63 when it comes to emulate teh games..

anyways.. its similar on what i was working on i mean for unpacked..
but anyways.. dont you thing there is "cracked servers that are actualy using the steam.. not lan. i mean internet and you need to use steam to connect otherwise you will get rejected.
so0o0o0o the users will only could play on lan server id'less

i like the new features you added not many but its good..
tnx gj.

My friend is getting this filesystem_steam.dll error to. And when we tries to launch the steamemu 2.63 installers we get a initzilize error.
The same thing with both emporio and steamemu. It was working before the 2.50 version and emporio was working before update 9 so i guess it has to be a bug in your emulator or something like that.
I've also seen that some people with a legal game have this problem but it seems to fix itself if you reinstall.

Oh by the way I have to put steamemu.ini in my mod directory to get this newest version to work.

I tried another thing.

I moved all the data from HKCU to HKLM (simple export - replace - import). Now i don't get any errors, but... the games won't launch either.

So a brief suggestion: read HKCU and HKLM cuz ppl tend to install steam on 1 account (i have two on my windows xp, one mine and one of my gf) where steam is installed only on my account.

Mkay. Another update.

After a few try-and-run i managed to work my way trough.
Here's a brief description:

You have to have all the 4 files from the archive unpacked to steam folder (that's where yer clientregistry.blob is)

You have to put steamemu.ini to each game folder (where the hl2.exe[cutable] is, not the bin/*.dll directory) and (this one's important!) you have to run the game trough "hl2.exe -steam -game hl2" (from steam game folder fe: drive:\valve\steam\steamapps\stupidme\half-life 2 while running steam launched by SteamClient.exe)

not trough the interface (i think i saw an updating game content msgbox but it wuz displayed too short to take a closer look).

Hope this helps.

P.S. Be amazed how fast your steam can be. :) Great work hCUPa :D :bravo:
