With the 1.1 version I just downloaded I can update games. It went really slow at first but its goin around 200KB +. Although I think it's because I had partly completed GCF's.

ffs now i gotta find a cracked server... it's really annoyin me..

dno does my method work maybe auth server were down, i checked with german boys auth server checker, it showed they was online.

I checked with both Auth server checkers, the one by German boy and the other one by b74b74b5 or whatever his name is.

I tried a Cracked server, don't remember the I.P, but then I typed in an I.P of a server I know has VAC2 enabled and it connected and worked.

Works for DoD: S as well. xD

Erm I think you can connect to VAC2 legit servers using maxman's method....
I'm sure it works because I used both auth server checkers and they were online when I followed maxmans steps, I managed to get into 5+ legit servers for CSS and DoDS without ever getting ownage error or anything like that. I only use this method for DoDS though as I have two legit css accounts.

EDIT: By the way MaxMan thanks again for posting this method, most people would keep it to themselves, thanks again.

edit2: ffs new css update or someit must have buggered it up, coz it doesn't work for me anymore.

Ok, i know Im gonna get called a nub, but, Star Steam keeps hanging up when steam usually tries to update at the start, saying that the steam servers are too busy.

Any ideas? Or if Star Steams even working still.

does maxmans method still work on hl1 games?

edit: yes. yes it does. very good find. i can play specialists on all servers now! woot!

but star steam cant download half life 1, server too busy ownage. good old cuesteam fixed that gfc problem.

to able to use the maxman003's method do I need to have a legit hl1 acc ?

no, but it only worked once for me. these methods suck lol. they only ever work once.

Anyway i also made this purchase thing (saved clientregistry). Then i went to game, alt+tab and patched this clientregistry, tried to connect legit server, nothing and then cracked server and then legit and it went in.

Excuse me, i'm using CueSteam retro (14/03/2006 release) and i can't update Red Orchestra from the Steam. Can I update RO using Star Steam? I don't want to download patched gfc's
