Post subject:  UGLy and Metamod

Hey Guys i got an little question to the Steam launchers like UGLy

i got UGLy instlled and i can start Day of defeat with meta mod and AMXMODX but when i add the Soundplugin to AMXMODX i become the Error messages that the Folder Sounds can not be found in Folder DOD but i createt the Folders like this

Steam\Steamapps\USERNAME\Day of Defeat\DOD\Sounds\Misc ---AMXMODX Sounds here ---

is it a problem with the UGLy that i cant launch sound or Sprite addons with this or another Launchers ?

i hav 1 problem ugl. i hav d/led latest update n etc 4 ugl. the problem is this :

- i create desktop shortcut 4 sin episode emergence
- i double click the shortcut
- game launched
- after i exit, ugl keep relaunching back sin emergence
- there's a diablog box said "Gotcha"
- i had to terminate process in task manager to end it

weird thing is other game shortcut works perfertly and if i launch sins episode via the ugl gui, the game works perfectly also. only the desktop shortcut....

Can you make these:
1-UGL's window remembers it's last size and position
2-Properties window with AppId, Required GCF's, GCF sizes and GCF versions for games and tools
3-Properties window with folder size, path, custom icon and parameter(argument) for mods
4-Properties window with size and path for movies

Bugs?:
1-I can't start non extracted videos with BSPlayer and Steam Media Player. When I double click them first I see UGL "extracting" window and then the player starts. With BSPlayer nothing happens and with Steam Media Player I get an error:"Unable to open media: D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\Media\redirect steam:\advertise\380 HL2-EP1_Teaser03.wmv"

Hope you can fix this and good job, UGL is great!


i think ugl can remember size.. just set it in the "ugl.ini".

There are two entries there: "Width" and "Height"; but that's not enough. UGL needs XPos, YPos, Width, Height and Status(Maximized, minimized, etc.) to remember exact position.

I got the "gotcha" thing too; but it was a different problem. Some authors don't create ico files; they rename bmp's to ico. So I renamed that false icon to bmp and converted it to ico with IrfanView and it worked. I think you have to add this to FAQ.

I have installed a mod and when I launch UGL and it says "gotcha"
Go to "Steam/steamapps/[username]/half-life/[mod]/" and rename "[mod].ico" to "[mod].bmp". Then convert "[mod].bmp" to ico with an image editor like IrfanView or simply delete "[mod].ico". UGL will use the default icon for that game. ([mod] is the short name of your mod like "valve","cstrike", ...)

UGL does have these - though that might just be in my version at home (i've lost track), that I will release shortly - see below :D

The gotcha thing is a general catch if I didn't trap something, and yes it does normally surface with the icon thing - I know I should use something more informative, but it keeps me amused when I'm coding :wink:

I guess I should update the FAQ for when you see an appearance of this, so thanks for the text Shamanac. But I really ought to fix the problem :?

There will more than likely be a final release of UGL that is compatible with HookEmu as well as SteamEmu, I've been working on that with cIntX for the last week (well he's been doing the work, and i've been testing / nagging him :D ), and it's looking good.

I will also take the opportunity to clean up any bugs, and leave UGL in a more complete state. This will probably be my last update of UGL, as UCL will soon near completion, and I prefer to code in C# :D

haha. thxs 4 the info on icon.. im goin to try out converting icon see it works or not.. btw, bout that remember position, i think u were right. cant remember position. last time i use ugl, i just set height n width to 1024 768 which is full screen 4 my desktop..

you are both, because the download of the base packages is at the bottom (attachment) and the update package is posted at the top

if you asked for the skin:
it is attached, so you have to be logged in...
