There are plans for category management in the future, that will circumvent the need to hard code anything in the code. Quick fixes and fudges like this are sadly what slow applications down eventually, as you will end up putting more and more branches in your code the next time something comes along that doesn't fit - it seems trivial now, but UCL is being built for future compatibility and there are already a couple of things like this that will I want to remove eventually. We need to allow people to create categories, drag and drop between them, so they can for example create an album and drag mp3s into it in the audio section, or drag multiple Steam third Party content files into a PopCap category. I understand it is a frustration, but is it really too much to ask people to work with this while I develop better things? It's not like there is No way of doing it at all, I have offered basic support for doing this and as such it was never intended to be taken as a final solution (which is why this is release candidate software) I know it's in development. I just asked if you could add something like this, and not if you add it now. I also think drag & drop would be better then I could make groups for Strategy Games, Ego-Shooter, Sport Games and thing like this. These things I am thinking about can be included anytime in UCL. First it should work good and have no bugs in it and then you could add things to make it easier for people to use. |

i used it and it seems non working with w2k3_x86 . you use UCLConfig.xml for the config but your exe does not update the path of gcf in the steamemu.ini : BaseDir=.\SteamApps you could create a menu for some steam.dll "plus" legits do not have ;] . ex : full_extracted or not , for " emu_superusers " i ll test it with xp i paste the error : See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.IO.IOException: Unable to create junction point. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070001): Incorrect function. The BaseDir in STeamEmu is right and you never have to change it, UCL generates an SteamApps folder in the UCL folder that links to your steamapps folder. So the BaseDir .\steamapps is always right. Have you put your SteamApps folder in the UCL folder? Because this doesn't work, place it somewhere else. |

It is because you do not have an NTFS partition - the junction point cannot be created. I need to trap the error better, but only have NTFS partitions myself at home so the trap was put in blind, and obviously it's not working correctly. I will try and put in a more robust solution. You must manually edit the steamemu.ini if this is the case, and some games will not work, due to the fact that they expect to sit in a "Steam environment" (these are mainly older 3rd party games like shadowgrounds and iron warriors) This is in the documentation, but I will add it to the faq on the main post. |

Did you change the steam user in settings? If so, what username did you use? Has it got any wierd (non alpha numeric) characters in it like quotes etc? If this is a case please try a "safe" username and try again. To be honest, i'm not sure whether things like spaces are accepted by steamemu in the username, I would expect the criteria to be the same as steam itself, but I can test later when I get home. |

Nicolesmith did not you installed ucl in steam folder ? you have to use a separate folder , ucl will do a ".net_subst" command to "merge" folder help of dos subst G:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>subst /? Associates a path with a drive letter. SUBST [drive1: [drive2:]path] SUBST drive1: /D drive1: Specifies a virtual drive to which you want to assign a path. [drive2:]path Specifies a physical drive and path you want to assign to a virtual drive. /D Deletes a substituted (virtual) drive. Type SUBST with no parameters to display a list of current virtual drives. may be this message could help about : ntfs nofat32 of ucl |

Good point, I'll put that in the problem section in the first post. *EDIT* I have re-organised the main post and put in a better quickstart guide. Hopefully people will read this |

When I try to start HL2 Episode One, UCL(or hl2.exe, or steam.dll) return this error: MountAppFilesystem() failed: Failed to mount file system for application: 380. With Race WTCC UCL(or race.exe, or steam.dll) returns blank Messagebox only with Ok button. |

Have you got Base source engine 2.gcf? Is the game at 100% in Steam client? It's working fine for me. krasleto wrote: With Race WTCC UCL(or race.exe, or steam.dll) returns blank Messagebox only with Ok button.
This is a SteamEmu error that I need to report to hCUPa. |
