I'm having problems with GCFPrep after I started using the 1.5.1 version.

I updated all my GCFs and they run fine... but SourceSDK and SourceMods are other thing.

My SourceSDK always show this no matter what I do or try to do.

And the SourceMods (Like Synergy) crashes me after attempting to create a Listen Server saying to me "Unable to load authentication library, Exiting..." This is a Source SDK Base problem with the tool... since I managed to fix this.

In any case, my problem remains with the SourceSDK. Any idea of how to fix this?

Thanks.

Vendena, you get that if you are trying to run the SDK before running the associated games at least once. In the case of GCFPrep, it should be enough to have just prepared the game as opposed to run it, but i'm not 100% sure on that.

I got that a lot during testing as I would always remove all game folders to retest, it is a common problem and explained on Valve site.

*EDIT* I have re-uploaded GCFPrep 1.5.1 with the correct config file to fix the source SDK base mods issue. Please re-download it if your source mods are a problem and you haven't fixed the default support files.xml yourself.

Completely forgot SourceMods when I created the config

That's usually the problem, but no... I always play the game a bit before running the SourceSDK.

I've tried everything, including extracting the sourcesdk.gcf by myself and trying to make it (or the tools) standalone (not knowing how to do this properly, since I prefer running the files from the GCFs... but I learn fast).

Can't find away yet.

Which emulator do you use?
If you use RevEmu you could try this:
1. Open rev.ini in sourcesdk folder and set SteamClient=True
2. Copy steamclint.dll from GCFPrep\Emulator\REVOLUTiON to your sourcesdk folder
Please report if this wokrs for you.

If you are using SteamEmu I don't know any way to fix it atm, expect configuring sourcesdk\bin\<engine>\bin\GameConfig.txt yourself.

I'm just using GCFPrep. I think that REVemu can't run SourceSDK via Launcher.

Anyway, I just tried something and managed to fix it. Thanks for the provided help.

But, I was the only one having problems with the SourceSDK?

Yes, but if you use GCFPrep you use Steamemu or RevEmu depending on which Emulator you configurated. And both can run RevEmu via launcher
Csbrazucas
SteamEmu or RevEmu?
Looks like you are using SteamEmu, which doesn't support favorites, try RevEmu.

it worked fine for me at first, however now hen ever I run the program I get an error (see attach)

the games don't work because the file it is looking for isn't there. eg when i run portal it will look for background01.vcf where the actual file is background.vcf.

I have tried removing gcfprep and re downloading it but still no avail. As you can see in the attach i have .NET framework to version 3.5

It's in the FAQ!

Somewhere along you must have uninstalled / corrupted the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package for x86 platform. The link to download this is also in the FAQ.

I believe shmelle mentioned somewhere that revEmu has problems with SDk launcher on x86 platforms. I have x64, so haven't actually noticed this problem. It should work fine with steamemu, just as long as you extract all the content correctly (i.e. sourceSDK + all the associated games that have a profile).
