can't find rev.ini, tried searching both GCF Prep and steam folders. No luck

Look in:

GCFPrep > Emulator > REVOLUTiON

It may appear as just a "rev" configuration file depending on how your windows folder options are set.

Change it in there, and it will be right from then on. It is modified and copied from there into the games folder (e.g. c:\games\Half-Life) when the game is prepared. I have put in a fix for people changing some critical rev.ini settings in the next version.

:shock: :D

It's all a learning curve, if you did it, then probably someone else will, so its worth me putting specific things like this in the FAQ. Thanks for reporting back that you solved it.

I'm posting here to thank you, Mitsukarina, for your precious work. Now I can backup quickly and safely my games :D !
My only suggestion would be to include the choose of the emulator directly in the GUI.
I would also ask for curiosity why you have choose SteamEmu as the default emulator; I ask because it seems to me its project is dead, would'nt be better to use revolution as the default emulator (btw a new version came out yesterday)
Keep up the good work!

RevEmu is not 100% stable and doesn't support all games (condition zero)

Mitsukarina should know when he released a new version :lol:

:wink: :D

Well, next version will probably default revEmu as it actually plays more games than SteamEmu (Race series, 64bit etc) but I would like to nail the problem with condition zero in the next revEmu release first.

If anyone can remember back to when condition zero came out, and how people got it working it would be a big help, as my dev machine is running vista x64 and anyone who tried debugging in that will know how awkward it is! I know I have 2 problems first is mp_consistency checks fail, which I have fixed, but the second is unknown to me atm as it just crashes to desktop after showing the "start button" :twisted:

I may end up installing XP x86 just to fix this, but can't be bothered just yet :cry:

As long as shmelle's developing it, I can guarantee you it's stable! :wink: :P

Ehm, :oops: right! :lol:

Thanks for the explanations!
I think I've encountered a bug in rev emu (or GCFPrep, not sure): if I select italian language in GCFPrep GUI and "prepare" the italian version of Episode One using rev emu the audio (and the "Loading" line that preceeds the menu) are still in english; with steam emu and the same game files both are in italian.
I've already change language=italian in rev.ini and the steam registry language value is set to italian.
The italian addon files are:
Quote:
half-life 2 episode one italian.gcf
half-life 2_italian.gcf

My revemu.ini is like this:
Quote:
[Emulator]

CacheEnabled=False
CachePath = C:\Programmi\Steam\SteamApps
Language=Italian
Logging=False
#SteamDll=C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\Steam.dll
SteamClient = False

[Log]

FileSystem=False
Account=False
UserID=False

[steamclient]

PlayerName=REVOLUTiON
Logging=False

Am I missing something?

It's a bug in revEmu, There were a few multi-language bugs that I have already fixed for revEmu v10 release.

#SteamDll=C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\Steam.dll

x64 system?!
However, that line is fully correct.

I've explained above, it's a language bug that has been fixed in revEmu v10.
