Saw that you mention the failed to cantact key server problem in your first post. But I don't know why, as you will never get this error using a standalone version.

Then it will launch the game, but this shouldn't be fixed then


Okay, removed it. But when do you get this error then? Let me guess: If you're running it with Steam, as it doesn't finds the CD key which would be required. (Sounds at least a bit logical to me )

About failed to contact key server:
It's an error Steam will display you if it can't find a reg value or file on disk that is specified in clientregistry.blob. It has nothing to do with the specific game. I think they use it to be sure you get a key for your game bought in Steam, and that the key will be restored if deleted.
So you guessed right.

About the dedicated server problem:
No if you use the parameter -game valve for the dedicated server (hlds.exe) the game won't start, but it also doesn't help to solve the problem.
Normally if you start hlds.exe with the -steam parameter this problem should not even exist.

Have you started hlds.exe with -steam parameter?

Try as I might, I was unable to convince the sounds of the extra gmod content to work. Also considering the inability to play the other games, I think I shall seek other paths, but I'm glad I have what I do, thanks!

SBReV says it doesn't have 'online', and UCL doesn't mention it at all. I'd like to play online, preferably be able to join other games, or at least have my equally configured friends able to join my game. Is that possible? The potential wired gyrocopters thank you.

Thanks. The -steam parametrs fixed it.

SBReV works 'online'. You can't play on legit servers, but you can play on Setti servers. Furthermore you could also create your own server. However be sure that everything is patched with VUP.
And I'd recommend you to use GMod cracked addons series (somewhere in the main section) too on that server (will fix some issues with VUP).

If to be specific I can see all games, but when i start it get ad error

If you start dedicated server in Steam you also see all games, but there it will start downloading the game if you don't have it.
So because you are not running Steam to download the needed files, dedicated server will give you an error.

Edit: If you want it to only list sepecific games you have to edit hlds_steamgames.vdf

So I have to edit hlds_steamgames.vdf or download all games. Is that right???

No, if you don't like it that all games are in the list you can edit the hlds_steamgames.vdf.
The dedicated server will work like always with or without editing the file. It just looks different

If you want to create a dedicated serer for all games you must download all games.

Soory, can't help you, I get the same error, don't know why. Normally I don't use extracted mode, so probably somebody who uses extracted can help you here.
