pilot091286 Well, true, you should use rev-emu since it's the best emulator atm. That's why I added 'recommended' after it. |

Maybe you're trying to connect to a legit server? You can only play on cracked ones. |

pilot091286 Steam Account Rejected means that you're connecting to an uncracked server. |

No, unfortunately. You need to find cracked servers. Check the sticky thread in the Main Forum. |

I lol'd What b00t meant is about internet severs. However, you can create a cracked server with VAC2 (though I don't get why you need VAC2 on LAN |

Open rev.ini In the section [steamclient] Add after PlayerName=.... this: MasterServer=213.239.209.221 And you’ll get only cracked servers I think it should be added to the tutorial |

BoBmArLeY Usually rev.ini already contains that line. |

I'm sur I have added this line by myself |

Well, the line is there in the file in the archive. In more recent rev-emus it has been commented out though. (...) [steamclient] ################################### NOTE #################################### # These settings may apply even if you don't choose to use steamclient.dll! # ############################################################################# (...) # Change the setting below to enable a different master server for the server # browser #MasterServer=213.239.209.221 However, I don't really see why this belongs in the tutorial, since it has nothing to do with making a game standalone but with finding cracked server, for which we already have a stickie. |

Hey, first of all I want to say thanks for this thread. I used it to make Half-Life 2 stand alone. I figured I might as well apply it to Episode One+. I obtained the gcf's, made sure I had the right ones and that they were valid. I extracted them, and added the first steam emulator mentioned in the guide. I did everything I knew to do but whenever I start the executable, it says 'hl2 has stopped working' in the Vista error style. There's no game error code.. any idea? I've got the source engine files and the two ep1 gcf's..? I did download them from a torrent labeled with 7-03-08, and I think it was from Pacman. I'd really like to know if anyone knows what the deal it.. |

SoliD Try to use them with UCL and see if it's the standalone's fault. Or try SteamEmu, for single-player games, it doesn't matter. btw, Pacman = bad guy, but not so important here; GCFs should be fine. |

Thanks for the response. I tried SteamEmu but it gave me the same thing. UCL is a great program but how would I use it to launch a stand alone game? Just extract the game gcf's to the steamapps folder? I'll try that.. My current goal is to backup Episode One to a dvd. If UCL works, can I just write it, the steam installer, and the game files to disc and not have to create a steam account to play? Thanks for your help, I know Pacman isn't the greatest but I couldn't find any Epi1 gcf's that weren't split on RS. Maybe it is his files? Possibly the executable itself? |
