SoliD If the files are valid, they're okay. I didn't meant you shall start the game with UCL as a standalone, but from the GCFs. |

SoliD If you want so many games a standalone is the wrong thing (as said in the tutorial). Best is to use only UCL etc. |

True, but until I get a blu-ray burner (..never), I can only fit 4.7gb on a blank dvd. So really it wouldn't make a huge difference to split a bunch of files up on multiple dvd's when I can just make one dvd for each game. Of course I may use that technique to back up the games on a large flash drive or similar. Heck, as long as the game runs stable and I can safely use it in a few years, I'll be happy. |

Ah don't worry about it.. I'm basically burning the Half-life games onto dvd's, for backup purposes (I plan to get a laptop soon and my pc's harddrive is acting up..). |

SoliD Why don't you save all GCFs you've got on the DVDs then and merge them on your new HDD? |

SoliD Yeah, you may want to RAR up your stuff first to save space, then back them up on a HDD (or some dvds, pff) |

I want to hear some opinions: Would you say that how to create a standalone dedicated server belongs in here? |

I personally think that you should make a seperate thread for the tutorial, and put a link to it in your first post. |

Well it wouldn't be that much additional stuff, only adding HLDSUpdatetool link & link to a small tutorial for it + referring to eST installation read-me. |

Will start to work on it soon. (vacations are so useful However, I'm currently working on this one; I'll add GCF-based standalones (will keep extracted though). I only got one last question (it's almost done), shall I keep SteamEmu and add also SteamEmu to GCF-based way or shall I remove SteamEmu since it's obsolete and it's actually senseless - imo - to create a new standalone upon an outdated emulator. EDIT: lol, I don't think anyone cares about SteamEmu. Just read my tutorial again a bit and I noticed that it wouldn't even work this way with SteamEmu. |
