hansol645 Are your GCFs valid? And what about source * . gcf and the other source 2007 gcfs? |

1. the cf toolbox doesn't say that HL2 needs base source 2.gcf or platform.gcf yet the tutorial says otherwise.. what shall i do then, extract it with or without these gcf files? what is their function anyway? and btw I didnt extract any sdk file for gmod and it still works, should i expect some failure? 2. what is to do with "Node graph of of date. Rebuilding..."? 3. is there a possibility to put the default values to extracted game? meaning.. not just deleting savegames, but also game progress(in the new game menu would be only the first chapter) and display settings atc. |

Ringwraith 1. I think HL2 normally doesn't run with base source 2.gcf AFAIK you can play with it though if you patch the engine.dll with VUP. But platform.gcf is indeed HL1 only (no idea why I wrote that 2. Nothing, will only appear once per map. However normal. 3. You need to delete the cfg files and some others for that. |

I created a standalone of Garry's mod 10 and every time I launch it, it takes me to the loading screen and then it freezes.. Then I get this message ->
Edit: It seems that I must run Pacsteam in order to run this standalone game... Is there something I can do for this? |

Stathis619 Well, firstly PacSteam is not supported here. But I think you'll have to play it through UDPatch. btw: 100th post in this thread is mine |

Thank you very much for your instructions ChrisTX, very useful. I also had the Visual C++ libraries problem, and I installed and uninstalled a few versions, ended my night with failure, and it magically fixed itself this morning (I did try restarting before to no avail, whatever). My first attempt to start a Garrysmod internet game (My overall reason for switching to standalone) failed, LAN succeeded, I restarted GMod and internet magically worked. My friend, using Undeadpatched steam (My old setup) managed to join using my IP address, so I'm very happy there, big thanks! Only concern was that the extras (DoD, CSS, Portal, Episode 1/2) didn't work. You mentioned earlier that simply putting them in their respective cstrike or hl2 folders would make them work, (and when I unpacked the gcf's, they formed into those folders themselves), but that didn't. Should the folders be inside garrysmod or something? I've them in the base directory, alongside my shortcut and hl2.exe. Big thanks to the community of cs.rin.ru! |

Hey guys. I'm trying to make a standalone copy of Team Fortress 2 for LAN play. I've followed the tutorial, and the game starts, but after the Valve videos (the logo and the powered by sources ones) plays, Vista makes an error sound and boots me back to the desktop with no error message. What's going on here? I have no problems running Team Fortress 2 normally via Steam. *EDIT* solved it by extracting *ALL* the GCFs TF2 needs. Now to fix that "beta must be running" problem... |
