You need:
1. Steam client installed and account
2. Crack for it: UnDeadPatch
3. CFToolbox tool to apply updates etc.
4. The following files in your <Steam>\SteamApps directory:
- race 07 expansionapp.gcf (can download in this thread)
- race 07 files.gcf (can download here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=46854)
- race 07 gtr evolution.gcf (can download in this thread)
- race 07 textures.gcf (can download here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=46854)

LAN and Internet mode works fine with cracked Steam, but not sure about offline verion - never used it.

Could anyone upload the update race_07_gtr_evolution.2_to_4.update to another mirror, because iFile.it is extremely slow. Thanks!

Hi guys

I'm new to Steam and my friends and me want to play this great game over LAN some time.
So I set up Steam, created an account and applied the UnDeadPatch.
In my <path>\Steam\steamapps Folder I have the following files:
- race 07 expansionapp.gcf (Version 0, 100%)
- race 07 files.gcf (Version 31, 100%)
- race 07 gtr evolution.gcf (Version 4, 100%)
- race 07 textures.gcf (Version 20, 100%)
and another directory with my username containing the folders "race07 ds" and "race 07" (containing some dlls and exes, I guess Steam extracted these, right?)
Also, under the "Games/Media/Tools" tab CFToolbox says that GTR Evolution, RACE 07 and its dedicated server are completed 100%.
When I launch Steam (100% and ready here aswell) and start Evo Steam simply says it checks some data, and then nothing happens.

What am I supposed to do now? I'm kinda lost since I have never used Steam until yesterday.

Best regards,
Lawlol

Try file verification in GCFScape. Probably files are corrupt.
BTW, how long did you wait for Steam checkin files? I guess this can take a while on slow PC.

Thanks for your answer hlvl

The data-checking window opens, goes to 100% pretty quickly, then closes again without any error message or anything. I tried waiting a while after the window closes, but I've got no noticeable CPU activity from Steam after the window closes (and I think a quad-core can handle Steam's checking algorithms under normal circumstances ;) )

Good call on the file corruptness, indeed the files "race 07 files.gcf" and "race 07 gtr evolution.gcf" are corrupt.
But there must be something wrong with the update I downloaded, because without applying the patch from v11 to 31 "race 07 files.gcf" seems to be valid (I don't know what's up with "race 07 gtr evolution.gcf" prior to applying the patch, how could it possibly be incomplete? The zip archive it was in when I downloaded it is valid!)

  1. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\race 07 files.gcf loaded.
  2. Validating...
  3. Done.
  4. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\race 07 files.gcf closed.
  5. E:\Games\Race 07\Steam-Version\race 07 gtr evolution.gcf loaded.
  6. Validating...
  7. Validating root\GameData\Sounds\PIT\pitSounds.mp3: Incomplete
  8. Validating root\GameData\Sounds\PIT\pitSoundsprivate.mp3: Incomplete
  9. root\GameData\Sounds\PIT done: Incomplete
  10. root\GameData\Sounds done: Incomplete
  11. root\GameData done: Incomplete
  12. root done: Incomplete
  13. Done.
  14. E:\Games\Race 07\Steam-Version\race 07 gtr evolution.gcf closed.

And this is the log after patching the files using the patches I found in this thread (race 07 files.11_to_31.update.gcf and race 07 gtr evolution.2_to_4.update.gcf)

  1. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\race 07 files.gcf loaded.
  2. Validating...
  3. Validating root\mssmp3.asi: Corrupt
  4. Validating root\steam_api.dll: Corrupt
  5. root done: Corrupt
  6. Done.
  7. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\race 07 files.gcf closed.
  8. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\race 07 gtr evolution.gcf loaded.
  9. Validating...
  10. Validating root\UiData\Movies\TrackSelect.bik: Corrupt
  11. root\UiData\Movies done: Corrupt
  12. root\UiData done: Corrupt
  13. root done: Corrupt
  14. Done.

Btw all the files I use are from your post above.

I'd re-download the files if it was necessary but WinRAR says all the archives I downloaded are valid.

// edit: Has no one else got that problem with those two files from this thread? I tried re-downloading the files-update, btw because it was the most comfortable to do, and it hasn't got anything to do with the update as far as I can see. It happened again.
I'll run memtest overnight to see if memory could be the problem, and report back.

// edit 2: As I hoped, according to memtest my memory doesn't have any errors. I'd appreciate any suggestions or help because I have got no idea what to do...

I got same problem too. I replaced those bad files directly in gcf file with good ones extracted from reloaded release (with hex editor). Now i have all files 100% without errors. I think, that you can make archive file with cftoolbox and then i can create patch for you.

Can anyone provide an update to fix for my files.gcf v31?
CFToolbox says 99.76% complete and must be updated. Here's my archive:

Thanks
