@paingiverIt is possible if legit player use appid same as you. @Anti-SteamMaybe it doesn't work for some games, but from what I understand, you want CSS start as HL Demo? and make Steam CSS = HL Demo? syahmixpUse for a fake AppID CDR-entry (GCF list and etc.) of real AppID. Otherwise, for the GCF-games [lobby]-section is broken. Try, e.g.: - 240 = 205 ; Mask CSS to Source_DS
- 440 = 310 ; Mask TF2 to TF2_DS
The above examples does not works. Engine crash on startup. Because the GCF is mounted to <fake_appid>, but not <real_appid>. Mounting the GCF should be made just for <real_appid>: should be in the CDR for <fake_appid> copy the description from <real_appid>. Quote: I understand, you want <real_appid> start as <fake_appid> No, I want to show fake in-game status (<fake_appid>) in steam community when i launch <real_appid>. It is need for users avatars visible.

@syahmixp ok. my firend tried to get smartsteam running with his legit ruse release but it didnt work yet... the smartsteam seemed to be running correctly so we thought it might be a reloaded release issue...

Guys we hold the solution  Just change the steam_appid.txt value from 18800 to 33310 and it works via tunngle  More at tunngle.net/forum

so we got it running at last  the legit player can play ruse with smartsteam. he only has to use the ruse.exe from the reloaded release! so after installing smartsteam and adding the 2 files to the ruse folder, just get the reloaded ruse.exe into your ruse folder and go. thanx for the inspiration  tunngle is definetely not needed to play ruse with smartsteam!

first of all: outstanding work! but i wonder a bit about banning.
sure i would always use a fake account with no games on it. but i am usually logged on with my real steam account, then log of, log on with the fake account via same ip and play cracked games.
what part of this would valve/steam see? i understand they see the login - since you can play with legit players when changing the appid, they probably can see also what games you play which you shouldnt. can they detect a non-genuine-steam (aka smartsteam) logon at all?
put in other words: do i risk my real steam account with lots of games on the long run when using smartsteam?

to see the real civ5 players in the internet lobby, i must make smartsteam use the real steam-appid? which is 8630 for civ5 i guess. but not really sure how to do that.

@Anti-SteamI think the games still mount the <real_appid> but will show you status of <fake_appid> but im not sure. Im not aware of this mounting issue and thanks I will try to check it. @mAdmURDOCKThanks, I don't know but I think steam will detect if you try to launch games that you didn't own, and your account will be disabled. Unfortunately, you cannot see the real player at all when you didn't own that game. You can try with steamcooker's Lobby Browser.

thats why you use a fake/empty account. question is, will they ban only the fake/empty account or also the main account which was logged in from same ip just before and after. just a matter of understanding: do you redirect calls like getserverlist to your own servers, or do you use valve's services somehow? if you redirect the network traffic to your own servers, cant you do the login over them, too?

syahmixpI think you need to patch the CDR: copy records from <real_appid> to <fake_appid>, that is to make the same record at different appid. Replace the entries in the CDR should be before starting the game. To be under the same APPID mask different applications. --- edit --- Please add the ability - to display source-mods (synergy, AOC, ZP:S, etc.) and Alien Swarm in the applications list when it is not installed;
- to automatically create a category of applications (e.g. "available to download") when the user logs in to account. And ini-section with apps list.
- [Settings]
- ...
- CreateAppsGroup = 1
- AppsGroupName = available to download
-
- [DownloadableApps]
- 220 = 1
- 12900 = 1
- ;etc.

...i dont get it guys..
i download steam from steam site and instal it ..then it starts to upload it self but on about 26% stops and this eror
STEAM.exe (main exception): illegal version number...
wtf do i need to do :S
