Oh well, that's you. The patched client.dll is just a HECK of a lot simpler. Only one file to overwrite. Versus making the steamapp.cfg, and the clientregistry.blob. |

Any1 got a workaround for this invalid/corrupt file "background01.vtf or startup_loading .vtf? It realy seems that the extracted ones are just place markers? How did you do this with this Steamemulators? I replaced startup_loading .vtf with the one from the Anon-Beta...this file is much bigger, but still this blackscreen! |

I think we are talking about two different problems: You mean by unlocking, the steam download and "pull off cable thing?" (Which won't work anymore...) I have a Retail DVD (I want to do it Thals way) --no fucking steam installed --i extracted the .gcf's --copied over the bin dir from Update Nr.5 --applied the client.dll fix -- and now i want to start it with the shortcut --but it won't work because of this freakin files! |

well as i wrote in Thals Topic the problem seem to be the german DVD with different gcf's... Anyway how large is your background01.vtf? |

thats not the problem, he was trying to use counter strike source gcf's also, that will mess it up
