I did the steam way to download the files. but i don't think that is saw unlocking. undo that i can extract all the files but after the valve intro my hl2 crashes, is it becaus it is still locked or am i doing something wrong. If it is unlocking via steam, how do i have 2 do this pleas.

open the hl2 conent gcf and go into any folder till u get to a file, and right click on the file and click properties and if it says encyrptes false it is unlock, if it says true it is locked

It seems to bu unlocked, maby i did something wrong with the steamengine, it is in the HL2 folder with hl2.exe and a shortcut with -steam -console. I have the css bin folder in the HL2 folder. do i need enything else?? And thanks for you help mayhemdred.

np, did u put a space after .....hl2.exe" and -steam?

just after the valve Intro i c for 1 second loading and then it crashes with no error. weird. ive been searching already 2 hours for this problem.. I

try some of this stuff...i need 2 take a nap

Option 1
- increase ur virtual memory
- use -heapsize 128000 or 256000

128MB RAM: -heapsize 64000
256MB RAM: -heapsize 128000
512MB RAM: -heapsize 256000
1GB RAM: -heapsize 512000

- update drivers
- Defrag ur Computer
- if possible disable some service stuff in ur OS

Option 2
- browse to ur hl2 directory
- look for config.cfg @ hl2\cfg
- delete it, then run hl2 again

I have the same problem as imael. Have steam version, did everything, got problems with client.dll loading, used P_1 patch and now i only play for 3 minutes and at first loading game crashes. Also, i can't save or load...

everytime I try to load a game my game crashes. Any help for this?

Hi I just wondered when Half Life 2 is completly patched 100% with no errors it might be worth someone uploading the complete Half Life 2 game again so anyone who wants to download it knows that it will be 100% perfect. Just wondered what you guys thought.

Schould it be my pc ? i only have 256 mb ram. maby thats the problem. or some people are talking about first opening with steam or something . I never did that and i don't know how. Even if i use steamengine or apes fix i don't notice any difrence even without any patches
P.S. I do use -steam, thats not the problem.

Now ALL who has steamapps steam service is not running . go in Steamapp File , MAKE SURE there is everything allright ur Path C:/games
ur user
and ur "password" (whit "" these)
Coz i forgott but my path location and now made it clear , steam engine works clear but i have problem Like this

HALF-LIFE 2: hl2.exe - unable To locate Component
This application has failed to start because MSVCR70.dll was not found ( and i dindnt found it). Re-installing the application may fix this problen ( NO way im doing that)

hey when im playing whit the version of thal up, I put the console to see whats going on and i see alot this message: example

Missing Close Captions playerweapongselected
etc....
but i can continue playing

this will need a fix?

Maby it is because i dowloaded all the files yesterday. May people say that the exploid thing doesn't work but it slill works for me. But gcfscape says false in hal-life2 content bij decrypted... how can i now my error if i dont get 1??? it just crashes

I also get the "Cannot connect to servers..." Message it says it's a Fatal Error or something. And after it shuts down Half Life 2 I get the cannot write to memory error. I tried adding the steamengine.exe to the folder but it doesn't do anything and I've added -heapsize 256000 (I have 512 mb RAM) to the shortcut. My shortcut looks like this:
\hl2.exe" -console -steam -heapsize 256000

I have the fixed AHU version. This error occurs after about 1 minute. I have CS Source running perfectly fine but Half Life 2 doesn't work
