create a folder called half-life

extract the gcf's to that directory

now extract the play on steam patch to same directory

edit steamapp

make shortcut to hl.exe and add taget line in the properties:

-steam -game cstrike

example:

"C:\Program files\half-life\hl.exe" =steam -game cstrike

but another quesion
once you extract the files from the GCF's into any folder what do you do to play after you apply the crack? do you have to move the folder.

And to play CS:S do u have to make a new folder again then apply the crack then do i have to move the folder i created ex C:/HL2 or C:/CSS to some place to play it or play it in the folders i created.???

got 2 problems:

1. when is try to extract the gcf's gcfscape says:

Error writing XXXXXXXX (no physical data to write).

2. He patchlink does not work 2 me too! someone got that file?

So the link to "h2o^ PATCH" DID NOT WORK.

I have the .GCF files, and the tool to "open" them. However, what do I need to do. I'm way too lazy to read all the posts and make my own conclusions as to what to do and why.

So I would appreciate if someone could state the steps I need to take. And please, so that it would actually work. I've downloaded over 20GB of stuff to get Half-Life 2 working, and shit, I'm almost ready to go and buy the game out. However I would like to test run it before I do.

just follow it. if you get an error THEN post that error...honestly, that is the best way to do it.

extract them all to the folder....want to no how? i dunno off the top of my head, but i played aorund with it, FOR LESS THEN 2 MINUTES, and I figured out how ot extract the files...do so yourself...HL@ will have more challenging tasks in it then that.

then, wait for the H20 patch. then play. thats pretty much it, from memory...

can someone PLEASE send patch to admin@gamegoer.com...pls!
