Perplexer wrote: I also have the error "This server requires that you be running Steam." when I try to connect to a Counter Strike Source server. If you Google you will see that quite a lot of people are having this problem. It is obvious that this RevEmu is badly written. Whoever wrote it didn't test it well enough.
I have RAID1 array on my PC with partitions C: and D: I installed Counter Strike Source on D: partition and I am getting the "This server requires that you be running Steam." error. This is NOT related to UAC or administrator privileges. I have full administrator account on my PC and it still doesn't work. The error is in the way RevEmu generates STEAM IDs from hard drive details. And this function is shit, and the creator doesn't care.
Anyway, then I inserted a new hard drive into my PC and created a partition G: on it and copied Counter Strike Source folder to G: and started the game. Now it worked. Then I tried to start Counter Strike Source from D: partition again (this is on RAID1) and it worked also. But only if the hard drive G: was in the PC ! If I removed the second hard drive from the PC, the game stopped working again from D: and showed the "This server requires that you be running Steam." error again.
So the reason for this error is shit coding / shit algorithm in RevEmu and NOT some UAC & administration privilege. Chill out dude! try LumaEmu...and if you ain't happy with that either try get a job and just buy this games valve itself loves to break every now and then.

How to make Internet server browser work with cs1.6? It only show 5 servers, see rev.ini -
- [Loader]
- # You can launch revLoader in two ways:
- #
- # 1) Create a shortcut to revLoader and apply the following
- # command line options:
- #
- # -appid <APPID> where <APPID> is the application in question.
- # If supplied revLoader will create a steam_appid.txt
- # file with the value specified
- # -launch <PROCNAME> where <PROCNAME> is the executable to
- # launch
- #
- # All other command line options are passed through to the
- # launched executable, so:
- #
- # revLoader.exe -appid 12345 -launch MyApp.exe -silent /help
- #
- # This will create a steam_appid.txt file with the value 12345
- # Before launching MyApp.exe with the arguments -silent /help
- #
- # 2) Specify the name of the application to load in the ProcName
- # setting below as with previous versions of revLoader.
- # You can also specify the command line if required.
- #
- # e.g ProcName=MyApp.exe -silent /help
- #
- ProcName=hl.exe -steam -nofbo -gl -nojoy -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -game cstrike -silent /help
-
-
- [Emulator]
-
- # CacheEnabled set to true to enable loading apps from GCF.
- # If it is true, and a clientregistry.blob file is not supplied,
- # then you must supply revApps.ini file with the correct cache requirements.
- # See the example revApps.ini, however it is highly recommended that you use
- # a clientregistry.blob file for maximum compatibility

- # Default = False

- #
- # revEmu will try to set the Language key in the following order:
- # Use the Language key in the this rev.ini if it is present
- # Use the Steam Language key in the registry if it is present
- # Default the Language to English
- #
- Language = English

This is my problem.
I download the acfs files os basegoldsource(Half life) and counter-strike 1.6. I put all im the same folder. Later i paste the revemu cs1.6 files. Change the language in rev.ini. Next i click in revemu and the game start perfect and can play perfect. I change the configuration (nick, keyboard, graphics, spray logo, sound, rates in consolo,...) I play and work wood but when i close the game and enter other time my config dont save and i need configure. Anyone fix to solved it please? Greenluma dont work win xp, the nosteam version is old and this is mi last way to play and is annoying configure and configure and configure the game.
Thanks a lot amd waiting reply.
