It is "normal" CF Toolbox is only able to connect to "Master Authentication servers" for authentication. and the content server protocol implemented in CFT is only using Steam2AuthTicket.

since some time, Valve started to migrate from Steam2AuthTicket to AppOwnershipTickets. these AppOwnershipTickets are not supported by CFT.

the AppOwnershipTickets are given by the CM Server (it's now the main, central , high availability server cluster, used for almost everything ).

since a few weeks, Valve also shut down all the Master Authentication Servers. The Steam client is now authenticating on the CM Server, I Started to code a kind of patch so CFT can authenticate on CM servers, it worked, but some time ago , it was sending a Steam2AuthTicket after authentication, and it is not anymore. this means, that CFT must be modified deeper

and i have so many things to code such as new ACF , new http content servers, want study CEG, must fix gamecoordinator client dll, and i have no time

maybe i'll release a fix, for cft ... but i'm not very motivated for now

Please help. Whenever I put my name and pass in the preference tab and click set, it fails to connect to the server. Is the server down??

The authentication servers are not existing anymore, so it is not possible to register an account and to download using CFT anymore.

I coded a fix "1.0.14" but it seems that the cm server also non longer sends steam2 tickets ... so i guess there's no way for now to download those gcf with my tools as all my downloaders were using steam2 tickets ...

I was still able to download the usual "free" l4d2 files +linux dedicated server gcf, had login probs with my orange box folder until i copied in the cftoolbox dir from my l4d2 folder and selected new target. I guess its due to having the option dont reset ticket set ? in my l4d2 source folder and not orangebox folder ??. the css shared data downloaded as well as gmod hl2dm update. Thats about all i download anyway

I have a problem with CF Toolbox these days, I want to update my files so I need to connect to my Steam account, while connecting I get this error "Server closed connection. Automatically retry ?" and I have to choose to retry or to abort. Help please ! -- Edit -- And what are CM servers ?

I'm actually following Computer science in my education, I hope helping you as soon as I learn coding and fall in love with it
