Well, yes, it shuts down by default after the game process is ended, supposing you don't need the program for anything more.

You can make Phoenix Wait for the game process to end by checking the corresponding option in the "Program settings" window. I can make it checked by default in the next release.

Hey Static Void I assume your the author of phoenix and would just like to know can I use this to install a steam game that uses 2 discs for the installation. I have tried and it only gets some way through the unpacking before it decides itself that it is done (which is nowhere near done) or I get an error message.
Thanks :)

Yes, I'm that one guy with that one utility :) .

I don't seem to understand you well though. Do you mean that program can't continue unpacking when you change discs or it doesn't work well when you change disc, go on with unpacking and it crashes with error message (or whatever) somewhere in the middle of the "second part" of the unpack process or it goes on unpacking stuff even if there's nothing more to unpack judging by the "overran" size of the processed content?

I'd also like to know what game did you try to unpack?

Post subject:  Re: Phoenix toolkit 1.5 beta 3 [11 MAR 2011]

haha okay :)
Well I downloaded the old version of phoenix first (1.2 i think) and that seemed to unpack and get near half way before a error message came up and wouldnt let me continue so then i downloaded 1.5 and i started unpacking the first disc, it got 13mb through it before it asked for the disc 2 sim file, so then i put in disc 2 and it continued on fine until about 20 seconds later it just stopped the unpacking like it assumed it was completed.

The game is shogun 2 total war. I cant install it via steam because I bought it in a store that broke the release date and steam wont let me install it till the 15th of march.Even though it hasnt been released yet I was still able to download the CDR fine :)

I don't think you meant extracting SIM file.

Supposing you meant viewing SIM file structure, do you want me to implement SIM file browser and ability to extract any file?

Hi.

Yes, sorry about that. I mean only extract files because when you finish to decompress files then another message is showed related to install some necesary files to executed correctly.

None of the games can be unpacked before the release date, because even if you can update the CDR it doesn't mean that Encryption keys will be there. It's likely that they will appear on the release date.

zeus83
OK, will add an ability to disable installscript.vdf parsing after the unpacking.

Do you really need Phx 1.4b7? I seem to have fixed all the SiD Unpacker issues in the 1.5b3 release. Consider updating Content Description Record (via Internet or by Downloading the file here and unpacking it to <Phoenix.exe folder>\Phx_data\Res\bin_ClientRegistry) .

And in case i doesn't help I'll try and see what can I do with Shogun 2 Total War.

I can confirm tokizo.

With older version its working fine.
But with the new 1.5b3 it stops after changing to dvd2.

It says it will extract about 15gb, but it skipts the last 7 gb (Models.dat is 0kb in size).

OK, I'll check that out. Thanks for confirmation.

OK, I've found the reason and fixed the problem. It wasn't actually the disc switching problem but "file mapping" related. That was rather old bug. Finally fixed. Stay tuned for beta 4.

$t@t!c_V()1D, I'm trying to use Phoenix at the moment, but I can't get it to work. Trying to install Shogun 2.
At first I set it to Steam and enter my name. Then I update the Content Description Board. Now when I use the SiD unpacker, I load the .sim file and then the "list" of games pop up.
As soon as I select Shogun 2, Phoenix crashes. Do you know how I could fix this?

Please, post a link to the Phx_debug_log.txt (or post it here in spoiler) and...you can't install Shogun 2 with any Phx version as there's critical bug fixed only in the 4-th beta. I'll try to upload it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

I've seen some posts on a couple of sites, where people say that Phoenix works for Shogun 2, but it doesn't?

Yes, it unpacks some files, but not the ones that are more than 2 GB because I forgot to change the size variable from int (that can address 2 Gb max) to int64.

And you could also try downloading the Clientregistry.7z and unpack it (as written here). If it doesn't help, then just wait for the another beta. I'm finally able to fix the problem with reading some ClientRegistry.blob fiiles as now I have the way to reproduce it and see what's wrong.
