Make backups of your steamapps first !

Thanks for testing

Is this specfically coded for win 32 ONLY?? The reason I ask is that it keeps crashing on my win 7 64-bit everytime I try to launch it. I even followed the post above on "how to get it working" and it STILL crashes.

test2006 : yep i meant downloading manifest and content. .acf file is created on client side.
and u are very right about the "up to date", in TINcft it only tells if your .depots are the last ones. it doesn't even check the actual content in this list or if new depots are listed in the app info.
in a final version i should implement it too :)

hardrockgamer: it is a win32 binary, but it is coded and tested on w windows 7 x64, so it should work. if it doesn't, did you try to install it in a new folder ? without cdr and appinfo cache ? is there any error in the log file ?
if still crashing can you send me your config file (if modified)

TINcft crashes when it tries to read appinfo.vdf that has old format. This is may be the reason it crashes in your case too (so make sure you have deleted your old appinfo.vdf you pointed TINcft to before starting new version of TINcft).

Post subject:  Re: TINcft 20130409 - win32 / linux

Ok, I just had time to try this again. First let me give you my set-up---> 1.) TINcft.exe & .ini are in one folder 2.) In a separate folder I created depotcache(empty), steamapps(empty), \steamapps\common(empty), and \steamapps\downloading(empty). Not sure if I'm REQUIRED to have files in any of these directories?? and if so where do I obtain them??

The goal I'm trying to reach is to bypass steam(in their words to be more "efficient") to "update" OLD gcf/ncf files to the NEW format acf files. Is this possible??

Thanx! for the support so far....

Post subject:  Re: TINcft 20130409 - win32 / linux

u have all you need in your tincft install. the next step is just to click on "config" and then "update cdr", and if u have acf games, then "update appinfo" each time u add new games.

but u can't convert gcf/ncf to acf with tincft. u'll need to extract the gcf and copy it to the acf common folder (u'll need the depot manifests too...)

This might just be a minor bug, but TINctf crashes when you start it without the .ini file in the same directory

Hi steamCooker!

I am having problems, running the latest version under XP SP3 (32bit). Strange thing is it doesn't even crash, it simply exits right after launching (process barely shows up in task manager, I can only see it in process monitor log). Completely new & empty folder, just the executable & an unmodified ini file. Have you dropped XP support (it's OK under win7), or am I missing something?

The previous version runs fine under XP (well with a bit of strange, transparent window at the 'folder environment' selection box, but the main program window is OK).
Could you check this?

Anyway thanks for keeping this tool updated, I'm looking forward to seeing how it will develop further. ::)

- There's a problem, if one/some manifest files (they're listed in an acf) is/are missing in folder "depotcache", then the acf doesn't appear in TINcft. It would be better, the acf should be shown ALWAYS. Also the missing cache files should be listed in the Depot-section, but with a note like "unavailable" (instead of the date).

- I need also the old wished alphabetic order of acf's. I have ca. 200 acf's and it's hard to find games (i.e. of new games with unknown AppIds, or -> missing acf's ;))

Agreed. It doesn't see my HL, CS 1.6 and CSS completely only because I don't have those manifests in depotcache folder.

The same problem here. I'm newbie with TINcft and think that problem on my side: I need some additional library like "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010-2012 Redistributable Package". I hove, that steamCooker will fix this problem soon.

UPD: TINcft.20130409 works fine on my Win XP SP3. And thanks for the linux version. It runs, but work slow and I'll test it after find GreenLuma analogue for linux.

Goar5, MS-DOS, there should be a message in the logs for such problem.

Post subject:  Re: TINcft 20130409 - win32 / linux

the error message is too technical to be understood, sorry about that...
just go to options and update the appinfo cache, it will create the content info in the internal registry and the game will appear.

BBCODE ?

Thanks, you were right I was missing several Appinfo entries. Now I feel kinda stupid, I thought I had updated already...

I broke the spoiler tags when I first posted, I edited my post to fix my use of the forum's BBCode tags :)

Is there any way to extract the .update files? Which format are they?
