I think if u have a valid HL1 acct, you dont get the error. Both my friend and i tried it as so, and we don't get the error. But if I use my other acct w/out a valid HL1 key, I get it... That's all i Know.

ok im trying the ppatcher found on the first post right now, i hav the collecters ed dvd but i want an illegal account anyway , i uninstalled all of my steam shit, six, steam down and all that shit, installed the GCF files from the DVD, put ppatcher in, ran steam and now its updating CSS, ill keep u posted on how shit works out... oh and if it does work, when people say not2 log out, does that mean i hav 2 leave my pc on cos when i exit steam wont that log me out anyways?

Hi! I found an old HL1 Generation with 3 keys. Tried them on my three account (1 time i made a new one, but the other two where old with ticket error). I didnt reinstall anything, have steamdown and sixsteam but dont use them. I only use ppatcher. now i can play all for free (question is for how long it lasts) for one week now. an cs-addict i know actually bought the HL Generation for 20€, he had to bring it back two times and change for a new one (duplicate key from a newly bought original...).
Then he called Valve (or Sierra, i think). he told them his steamlogin and pass and the duplicate key. five minutes later they called him back and gave him a new key. it worked! then he used ppatcher and now he can play CSS or HL2DM with us...

P.S.: I didnt need to setup a new isp, or format, or kill my neighbor or something..

I also had the Steam Ticket Error and then i logged in with my old steam half-life 1 account (it's 1,5 years old), and the it worked again. And yes i'm also using ppatcher only.

Hello. iv got a problem iv downloaded the ppacher + offcial steam / crated account / clsoed it / opend ppacher / downloaded hl2 / and when i try to play hl2 game will start up intro's will show but after the intros game will show main screen with no options on it just a sign loading... i donno wtf is that but it never loaded. :S iv tryed it like 3 times and everytime its the same. now i had the game for some time now only with loader. and wanted to try the steam crackrs but all i am getting is a loading. sing plz help.

There are few luckers who can play.....it seems to that sometimes it works, sometimes not. no one can exactly explain why.

I can get in with just ppatcher. I think you can get in if you have an old account. I have one that I made long ago, and now I can play. Maybe they should like cross-check 2 clientregistries. one old and one new account see what's different. or maybe check what's happening in memory with one working and one not working. Maybe you can simulate the working one (like ppatcher does but then with connecting to server).

I don't know much about this all, so this prob is the lamest thing ever said here. Well I'm happy I can still play and I hope you guys can play again soon.

or the config file, it will work the Exact same
as the one we all already have..

I said it's slightly different. It will indeed work the same but some lines are not there. I know it's actually nothing different
