Post subject: Online Server within LAN Posted: Monday, 24 Jan 2005, 23:51 |

Some time ago, in the days of 1.5. I used to have a server set up.
I used a little prgram that I believe was called "easyrhino". This allowed me to have players join this program on port 27015, and then this program would port them to the server using a LAN ip. This enabled the use of an online LAN party. Mainly for people who never had a CD Key.
I would like to set up the same thing again. But cannot find this dam program. Does anyone know of this or any such program that will do this?
It has to accomodate players connecting with or without steam.
Thx
"I only think that the program name was EASYRHINO, cant be sure though".
I have now found that the program is "EasyRhino LAN Packet Forwarder". But I still fail to find a download for this, If anyone can help, would be cool.
Thx

Nevermind Peeps, I found the program in the end, got it all up again.
I can now run a dedicated steam server, and have non steam clients join with the following files.
cs16full-v7
cs16patch_full_v19
cs16_play_on_steam
This also allows for staem clients to join aswell.

I can indeed join myself aswell.
The main purpose I did this was because...........
I play CS, My wife plays CS, My kids play CS.
I have a CS Clan where members do have steam.
And With 5 computers available to play CS in my household, and not wanting to buy more copies of CS, (Ive already bought 5 copies over the years). I decided to create this kind of server again.
So whether you have Steam or Non Steam, you can join my server. This is because it basically acts as a LAN server, where all the clients, (except LAN clients) get forwarded from one port to another port.
This is not a suitable setup for alot of servers, but it does me good. And might help others.

The server was set up with the hldsupdatetool. And until today was running as a normal steam server.
But you know how it is, gotta try these things out. and it works great.
I used to have this setup on CS 1.5 won auth servers. Never tried it with 1.6, but it does work.
The only adjustment to the dedicated server config is setting it up as a LAN server.

I have uploaded the EasyRhino to my website.
http://www.sud-counterstrike-clan.co.uk ... _Win32.zip
Full credit goes to the author of this program, whom I not have a clue who it is. But it is worth checking out.
Hope this helps

I only use one network card in my server.
This is then connected to a network hub, and then through my router.
As long as you are setup for a LAN server, and running the program, then you should be able to join via 27016. where as internet clients connect via 27015.
As for your error, I cant see the image to see what error you get.
email me @ karljhedges@hotmail.com if you need more help.
