Features ======= * Launch all HL1 and HL2 games including all third-party mods. * Use either with or without internet connection. * Easy control over each individual game's launch options and language. * Create desktop shortcuts for any of the games. * There is the option to extract either entire GCF or just minimal files. * The only steam-related files required are the GCF files. * You don't need to edit any files. Rat-Steam will do it for you. * FPS boost for source games. Download ======== DOWNLOAD v1.04 *FULL* MIRROR #1 DOWNLOAD v1.04 *FULL* MIRROR #2 DOWNLOAD v1.04 *FULL* MIRROR #3 Other ===== To have the option to get a game into another language you must have the additional language GCF for that game in the 'SteamApps' folder. E.G. for Half-Life 2 in french, you require the GCF 'Half-Life 2_french.gcf' to be in the 'SteamApps' folder. To transfer settings from one installation of Rat-Steam to another, copy the file 'Rat-Steam.blob' to the other installation of Rat-Steam. Make sure your GCF files are 100% and are not corrupted. Standalone games such as Rag Doll Kung Fu and Darwinia are not supported. Download EMPORiO or DiGiTALZONE releases to get these games. Rat-Steam is NOT designed for online play. You will NOT be able to play on VAC servers. Installation ========= 1. Unpack. 2a. Install to your existing Steam Folder. 2b. Install to any folder you want. 3. Make sure your GCF Files are in the 'SteamApps' folder. 4. Install your Source Mods to 'SteamApps\SourceMods'. 5a. Install your HL1 Mods to 'SteamApps\Rat-Steam\HL1'. 5b. Install your HL1 Mods to 'SteamApps\[Username]\Half-Life'. Uninstallation ========= 1. Exit Rat-Steam. 2a. Select 'Uninstall' from Start Menu > Rat-Steam. 2b. Run Rat-Steam-Uninstall.exe from Rat-Steam folder. Note: Your GCF files will NOT be deleted during uninstall. Neither will the files extracted from the GCF. Credits ====== hCupA - for SteamEmu. Nemesis - for HLExtract. |2em!x - for CSN. Silium - for FPS Tweaker. ======== Please report any bugs/improvements either as a PM or in this thread please. |

im surprised people still come up with original names heheh since i have no need to try this i can't comment on anything bout it, i just wanted to say what i did. hope the noobs are happy tho yes it's sort of like steamrip but it acts more like the original steam client, like editing launch options and creating desktop shortcuts and has a tray icon menu etc... another feature i like is that it will update steams launch options for a game if you edit the launch options for that game in Rat-Steam. You can also set launch options for all games at once, whereas in steam you would have to go through each game individually and set the launch options one-by-one. so it does have extra features which make it different/more useful i built this mainly for myself 'cos I found it useful. but decided to share it with you lot 'cos you might find it useful too. i know its nothing special in terms of steam hacking but i dont care really |
