Has anyone else had trouble patching the "sinepisodes sounds.gcf" file? Everytime I run the patcher on the file obtained from the post provided by morochop, I get this error:
C:\Sin Episodes\patch>gcfpatcher.exe patch "..\preload\sinepisodes sounds.gcf" "sinepisodes sounds.gcf.patch" "..\retail\sinepisodes sounds.gcf" 7FA25F96C60A11C0853EC57166129100 GCFPatcher version 4.1 Scanning ..\preload\sinepisodes sounds.gcf |--------------------------------------------------------------------| ====================================================================== Building ..\retail\sinepisodes sounds.gcf |--------------------------------------------------------------------| ====================================================================== Patcher didn't find all data. 466 blocks missing. Record of missing data stored in ..\retail\sinepisodes sounds.gcf.failed. Press [Enter]
Here are the MD5SUMs of the two 7-Zip file parts: 534596b9e7e433f4e4089122b798181f *sinepisodes_sounds.7z.001 dd831852f17bdf96d195e15a4f41a845 *sinepisodes_sounds.7z.002
Extracted single file MD5SUM: e0a5eed6a0935fbf376a9cc97d3e27a8 *sinepisodes sounds.gcf
Is there a problem with the file morochop uploaded? If so, can someone please point me to a working version of the file? I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks.

I finally got it to patch correctly! After sifting through serveral posts, I came across a link for v2 of dormine's patcher:
http://rapidshare.de/files/20168241/sin_ep1_preload_gcf_patcher_v2_working.7z.html
If you are using the sinepisodes sound.gcf file posted by morochop, this should work. Basically you have to patch twice.
1) Patch sinepisodes sound.gcf with the v2 patcher listed above
* If your MD5SUM matches what I previously posted, this should patch successfully
2) Patch the newly patched sinepisodes sound.gcf file with the latest patcher available at the beginning of this thread
Bingo! Like magic it works. Good luck and I hope this helps a few people out there.

It works! I started with V3 Patcher from first post --> Patched OK!
Next, applying the last patch v4.1 --> Patched OK!
Thanks for solution

hi, sorry to sound all noobish but I have the provision version (which is basically the steam rip) and I was just wondering if the patch would work for this one.
Basically I want to update the game since it fixes errors that I'm having with performance of the game, but because this was the steam rip - i think provision extracted the gcf files and so I can't find any gcf files within the directory. Is it still possible to patch it with the files provided in the first post.
Thanks

No. You need the GCF files.

a] couldn't the gcf files just be extracted - i'm thinking their encrypted archives, since the gcfs don't appear to be anywhere in the provision version? where would i normally find them in the steam version (directory)? - if the gcf files from the patch were extracted over the files in the provision game dir - wouldn't that be the same, assuming you overwrite the files of course.
wouldn't that work?
