For the Episode One file the first part is 400 meg, and the second part is 200 meg... My orignal was about 1 gig a little more... What the hell am i doing wrong?

With everything extracted (including patches etc) it will be my directory is 4.12GB - size on disk 4.20GB the ISO I created (and burned to a DVD) is 4.16GB, so it nicely fits on a single-sided DVD.

You shouldn't have got a 7z file after extraction, it should be GCF, so one of the files must be corrupt, i'd reccomend re-downloading it as i've heard other people have had the same problem and re-downloading sorts it.

Edit: See below for the file names and the sizes they should be (for the GCFs)

Hmmm did you try to decrypt a GFC from a different language? If so the fonts might be mest up, the scripts folder looks like it's buggin out.

The first part in the .7z file (half-life_2_episode_one.7z) should be 167 MB (175,350,564 bytes)
The second file (episode_1_shared.7z.001) should be 450 MB (471,859,200 bytes)
The third file (episode_1_shared.7z.002) should be 229 MB (240,455,877 bytes)

You then extract the files, after extraction you should have two files:
half-life 2 episode one.gcf and episode 1 shared.gcf

half-life 2 episode one.gcf should be 606 MB (635,801,340 bytes)
episode 1 shared.gcf should be 1.19 GB (1,278,875,564 bytes)

If this question is for me ( :P ) :
my steam and the games are in french so the GCF should also be french ones...

Gahh you people post to damn fast! Umm, the font might be for english but te GFC is for french, try replacing the english font with the french one (From your HL2 fonts folder).

Hmm, as erix920 said it looks like there is something wrong your scripts folder, as I do not have the french version (only the english) i'm afraid i'm not sure what to suggest - Some of the files which are replaced by the patch are in english so they may well be causing this, the patch however is also in english so it is unlikely that you will be able to use it to get the french version working, infact i'm amazed that the french GCF had the same decryption key....

If you can understand english I would reccomend just downloading the english GCF's and using them, because I know that they work.

Ok, thanks. I will try :) I hope I won't have to start all the steps from the beginning by replacing the current GCFs by the English GCFs ? :oops:

WTH! How do you extarct two 7zips, the reason it says its corrupt becasue it has to find 002 but how do you extract it?!?!

If you have the .002 file downloaded if not check the origional post, I made the links clearer (by putting part 1 and part 2), make sure it is in the same directory. Then open the .001 file in 7Zip and click the Extract button, then click the OK button.

The links are working fine for me, try again and make sure to choose the FTP download. (See screenie)

Goto the site, wait a few seconds, click on the "Don't want a premium download? Click here to access our free download links." link. Then wait a few seconds. Click on the "File Factory FTP" Link then wait for the pacge to load, a download link will be shown. Right click on it, save target as... etc.

The links are working fine for me, try again and make sure to choose the FTP download.


I mean the links to download the other GCFs, not the ones of Episode One
