Never mind! Got it working FINALLY. I've been playing for 4 hours, damn steam knows how to make a game confusing as hell.. EDIT: Ok, i'm trying to get it to go into steam but I kep on getting this error -> 
When steam launches a game wheres the hl2.exe it launches in that games folder or just the generic hl2.exe? Have to be the games folder right, unless it's the same in uses different resources/scripts. Right now I got this far -> 
If I don't use steam it works great. |

This tutorial is to make it work without steam. If you want to use it with steam, follow upto step 10. Then copy the files from your desktop into your cracked client steamapps folder. Hope this helps

When reading this the second time, I noticed that I forgot to say extract EP1FixFiles.rar to your desktop and to copy the contents of the folder to "C:\HL2EP1" this would be why you had to copy the bin folder at the end, I have changed this and re-done everything using my instructions - they now work properly without any errors 
Just to clarify things for everyone else, if you followed this yesterday and it didn't work. It will now! Here's what your finished directory structure should look like after you have followed the tutorial (note: the folder will have one or two extra files if you made the live DVD):

I got an error about that he coudnt start because he coudnt download files from steam server or something like that. I fixed it by copying the bin folder in EP1FixFiles.rar back to c:\HL2E1 It works great now. Thanks for making this man. You are a hero! Btw: if alex says something about going to a console, or she needs to run out an elivator but she doens't (little bugs). Bind a key to npc_select and an other to npc_teleport. ex.: bind b "npc_select" bind n "npc_teleport" (bind you do in console, in this version it is standard f12) Then I look at alex, press b and then for example if she has to go out of the elevator, I look outside the elevator and press n When he has to go to a console to open a door or something, I press b when looking to alex, and n in front of the console. Pretty easy ha? Well I hope I help some people arround. |

It works fine for me without, but whatever works for you! As for the Alyx bug, I didn't even realise that was a bug! I just pushed her out of the elivator thought it was something to make the game harder! - Mind you there are always going to be bugs in games. Also thanks for the other tips i'll try them out. |
