Ok. This works great and all.........BUT!!! For some reason, the graphics and animations are all messed up when i try to play! Besides that, the game works and functions just fine. What must I do to fix it.

thanks vista! works fine.. but when i am in the train with alyx she get freeze looking at the stalkers, and i see in console this:
Missing Close Caption Token npc_stalker.ambient01
and still frozen.. i dont want to change map plz! help me.

What must I do to fix it. Most likely the graphics settings are too high for your graphics card. Change them in the options menu. *sorry for my poor english, im mexican* This is a bug with the game, rather than anything to do with the patch, do the following that RedPanther suggested: RedPanther wrote: Bind a key to npc_select and an other to npc_teleport.
ex.: bind b "npc_select"
bind n "npc_teleport"
(bind you do in console, in this version it is standard f12)
Then I look at alex, press b and then for example if she has to go out of the elevator, I look outside the elevator and press n
When he has to go to a console to open a door or something,
I press b when looking to alex, and n in front of the console. Pretty easy ha? Well I hope I help some people arround. _________________ I was Vista before Microsoft came up with it...

Firstly I have to say thank u a lot for this wonderful Forum, then I wonna tell u Vista thank's a lot. As like subject can someone help me getting Italian Voices for Episode one, I've tried BlankSteam and also original Steam with PROVISiON" Steampatcher v10 - 01-06-2006 applied but I don't succeed in updating the game for language because it stopped at 16% than no upgrade.
P.S.
Sorry if you have just answered this kind of question, sorry also for moderators

ok. i got the graphics issue fixed so its perfect now. HOWEVER, i got to this one part in the game where it has to load and during the loading process i get this error message that says "Could not download proper files because the connection to the Steam servers was lost." what must i do to fix it?
*Edit*
I'm not using Steam either of course.

thks for giving the instruction how to play but while playing urban flight level after the core starts to blast & alyx opens the door when we go thru the door the game exits with the following error msg.
"Could not acquire necessary game files because the connection to the Steam servers was lost."
any help on this, i am stuck at this point from yesterday.
