Quote: Thanks hCUPa, please find attached the savegame that crashes when loaded (right at the end of the loading progress bar) Like I said though, starting a new game seems to work fine so far...
Thank you for feedback Unfortunately, I dont have Sin episodes at the moment, nor they are present on account I use for downloading games. I'll try to download gcfs elsewhere and then try your save. Meanwhile, try 3.05b emu and see if it crashes the same way or not. Quote: But i have one Question. Is it possible to include Steam_ID support?
Elaborate please. There are multiple things that can be referred to as ID.

I´ll try to!!
I mean STEAM_ID, that you have/can see when you join a Server and type "Status" in console. At the moment you have "STEAM_ID_PENDING" or "STEAM_ID_LAN" but with that you are kicked from many hl1-Servers with the error "Steam validation failed".
I thought of a feature that you get a "real" fake STEAM_ID playing with your emu. Because i think on cracked Servers the STEAM_ID is not really checked.
Hope you could understand what i mean!

Thanks hCUPa - I tried 305b and I still get the crash - if anything it seems worse as I could get back to windows and end task previously, but this time I had to reboot as i was locked in the loading screen - that might just be coincidence though - we are having a heatwave in england at the moment
As i've said though - I'm still happy, as i can start a new game ok.

Quote: First of all doing -console PreferLocal=X does absolutely nothing. As PreferLocal is emulator option and should go into corresponding .ini file. Sorry i do not explain - PreferLocal=X its parameter from my steamemu.ini , i think you surmise Quote: Second, both -steam and -steamlocal should work the same with emulator But i want know what a differences between -steam and -steamlocal or its secret Quote: And last, thank you for supplied save file that helped with tracking possible problem
you are welcome!!!
May you describe possible problem in detail?
It may help tracking future bugs.
Testing 3.05b - for the present moment - NO ERROR
Thank you for your work - go ahead!!!

Steamlocal does it bit faster but with no online play support, if i remember correctly. Pasha13 wrote: May you describe possible problem in detail? It may help tracking bugs. How explaining exact source of problem is gonna help you? Say, problem you posted was most likely a synchronization issue in SteamFS. Does it help? If you wanna help, please check 3.05b emu. I'm unable to crash game using your savegame anymore. Edit: Missed your post about it, sorry. If it works, great. Changes are gonna make it into next version then. At the moment there's support for that STEAM_ID. Ofcourse if server checks it - you are gonna be rejected Does this problem happen only with HL1 games?

There is way to change the STEAM_ID? If yes, can't you just change to a real steam id that is on a legit account and play fine on legit servers?

hCUPa wrote: At the moment there's support for that STEAM_ID. Ofcourse if server checks it - you are gonna be rejected Hi hCUPa, this problem only apears on servers that were cracked with a patched swds.dll --->"Steam validation rejected"! And in Console is: Steam validation rejected ERROR: .hpk had bogus # of directory entries: 1262571592 ERROR: .hpk had bogus # of directory entries: 1262571592
When i join an other cracked Server i can join and have STEAM_ID_LAN! So thought of a Steam_ID like this "steam_id_0:0:38642785". Cause i think on the swds.dll cracked Servers Steam_ID is not checked from Auth-Servers, but only STEAM_ID_LAN or STEAM_ID_PENDING is rejected! This is the kind of Steam_ID i always get! hCUPa wrote: Does this problem happen only with HL1 games?
I have never seen this error on nany Source server!
Another thing i realised trying your new emu with hl1-games is that, if you start a game with "-steamloacal" i was asked to enter a CD-Key! But not if i start with parameter "-steam". And then trying to connect to a Server (starting with -steamlocal) i got the Invalid CD-Key error. Starting with "-steam" it was the know validation error.

Well, I tested steamemu 305 and no more crash when loading savegames in EP1. Tested with preferlocal=1. Nevertheless I didn't have the time to play much so I don't know yet if the random crash while playing (also runtime error) still exists.
Good job, man.

retrying:
-steamlocal: the game understand that it should start the steam engine itself
-steam: the engine is already started, accessible with a nt shared object.
Clear ?

For people who have experience with this emu (even with previous versions) : what is the most stable paramater (game never crash) : -steamlocal or -steam ?
And about preferlocal : Is it more stable to set preferlocal=0 or 1 ?
